If you mean OUR PM box

1) Is it full ?

2 ) Did you empty your Trashbox ?

schubert

Yes it was the PM's I was referring to, I emptied my trash box only a few days ago, also you always get a red warning message when it is nearing full and mine was yellow so I knew that wasn't the issue.

I have since been able to PM again as normal. I think it was perhaps the forum server that might have been slow yesterday. Thank you for the advice nonetheless Smile

Hi Schubert,
read what is shown below, it's about liveshow-tv.com
That's always the crap with pictures posted on Postimage, if you click on the picture you don't see an enlarged version of the picture but the Postimage upload page.

With that problem I'd check following:
-Try a different browser
-Empty history and cookies (caution, login names and passwords may be deleted!)
-Delete Temporay files or run a cleaning tool like CC Cleaner

Regards
Joker

damn it AngryAngryAngry
I've thought that the PMs are only for all the things that aren't allowed in the public forum as etv webshows sharing, private infos about models or their latest social network trash talk/ "info" posts or for sharing rumours about other forum members or insulting these (Mods of course included Tongue)
after my destroyed christmas illusion the next illusion is gone. Cry

but back to the main question.
in general should take a white list the same effort as a black list but as daz said the PM system was before any list and later was the black list introduced which is (probably) for most more usefull as someone should have been in contact with another one before he knows that he doesn't want to be in contact with in the other one (everyone got it or too many have been lost following my thought?). the idea of "he's an a**ehole, I'll block him" is probably more common than "he seems to be a nice guy and I'll add him, maybe he'll write to me some day".
at a firewall (the best technical example to this problem) you'll add a white or black list but not both and you'll add the one which means less work for you. as most members would allow more members to send PMs than block members from sending PMs (which means the blocked member entries are less) the black list was introduced in the forum.

another pov could be that more than 100 persons who want to send PMs to someone are also a kind of compliment. Smile

Re: Problems with private messages

Hi Slow Smile In comparison timewise the option to block certain members is very new [hidden link - please register] post dated 09.09.12. The other version was setup even before i joined.

The point of both is for comfort and not just for the sake of it being there. If you feel the need to block then block a couple each day. The settings are good for use as they are but thanks for your comments on the matter Smile

Wouldn't it be of higher interest to swap around this ? I.e. Check 'Receive Private Messages' and instead of creating an ignore list rather create a list of people from whom you want to receive messages or with whom you want to exchange.

Otherwise you need to add some 100k plus people to the ignore list as to receive messages from only dedicated e.g. 5.
It is the very idea of this forum that people who share an interest in the topics we have can freely interact with each other, maybe even make friends.
The PM option was designed to support this, and most members make use of it in a positive and friendly way, as it should be.

For people like you, who want to take a more 'radical' approach, I have this advice:
Give your Email adress to the chosen few who shall be allowed to get in contact with you, disable your PMs and live in peace everafter. Smile

The changes you propose are unlikely to come. If they should be discussed, I would oppose them.

No reason for such an agressive tone

But thanks your kind advise.

I herewith recall my approach and furthermore I delete my initial message.

Obviously we are making differences in who is asking what. Also it seems to me that many people forget very fast who supported them by giving a helping hand.

Sincerely.
