He came to town
A stranger there
What would he find
On this his day of birth

The children played
The parents sang
But did they care
On this his day of birth

The house was rich
The table full
There was no room for him
On this his day of birth

The people were poor
The house so small
A table to share
On this his day of birth

For money cannot buy
A warm and sharing home
Love and faith are priceless
On this his day of birth
