Mystery sea creature with no eyes and a leg washes up on shore – NO ONE knows what it is ...

Sherry Simmons, 47, found the unidentified beast on the beach while walking her French Bulldog, Tank.
At first she thought it was a large piece of petrified wood, but when she got up close she saw it was
nothing of the sort.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

She recalled: “As I got closer I realised it was some sort of creature. I poked it with a stick and it was
soft to the touch. “There is a small fin, but the weird part is that there were no eyes anywhere. It looked really heavy."

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

“As you can see it is strange looking – if you look down at the thick end, you will see what looks like a leg,"
she continued. She added: “I was a little scared as it was not identifiable. "If I had not had my puppy with
me I would have investigated further.”

The creature, which was discovered on Mulambin Beach in Queensland, Australia, has proved a mystery to the authorities.

In China, a man stole an 800-meter stretch of road and sold it for $ 800 ...

Sounds unbelievable? A daring thief stole about 800 meters long of concrete paved road in China to sell them and earn
money, a Chinese media report said. Locals of a village in Sankeshu, Jiangsu province, reported the matter to the police
on January 24, and said that a stretch of the road has mysteriously gone missing. Some of the residents believed that
an unannounced road renovation is underway.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

However, turns out that a man named Zhu had broken down the road with the help of a hired digger and the concrete
had then been loaded onto trucks and sold to a stone materials factory. The ambitious thief was looking for a way to make
money. For him, recovering and selling the concrete was a good “business opportunity” and he defended his action by
saying that a newly build road nearby had made the dug-up road obsolete.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

“No one was taking the road. Why don’t I dig it up and I can sell the cement pieces for some money,” the report quoted him as saying.

Zhu sold about 500 tons of concrete for 5,000 yuan, which is about $795. [Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig]

Nigel the lonely gannet dies as he lived, surrounded by concrete birds ...

New Zealand conservationists mourn loss of celebrated bird that was lured by replica gannets in
the hope of establishing a breeding colony.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

If there is such a thing as a tragic life for a bird, then the life of Nigel “no mates”, a New Zealand gannet,
probably fits that bill. Nigel lived for years on his own on uninhabited Mana Island off the north of the
country, surrounded by concrete replica gannets. The immobile replicas had been put in place by
conservation officers who used the sound of gannet calls broadcast by solar-powered speakers in an
attempt to lure a colony to settle on the pest-free scientific reserve. Nigel was the first gannet in 40 years
to make his home on Mana, arriving alone in 2013.

There he remained, alone. That is until just a few weeks ago when he was finally joined by three
real life members of his species. However, Nigel failed to befriend them, and then he died.
Department of Conservation ranger Chris Bell found Nigel’s body surrounded by his concrete friends.
“Nigel was very faithful to the colony,” said Bell, who also lives and works alone on the island, 2.5 kilometres off the west coast of the mainland.

The REAL cat burglar ...

A cat theft has stolen items including knickers and left them at the end of a
man's bed inside his house. Ed Williams was confronted by his partner about
the underwear but was let off the hook when he discovered Mo the cat had
been stealing it from neighbours in Auckland, New Zealand.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

Mr Williams told the NZ Herald Focus he did not have an explanation at first
for the pair of knickers at the end of his bed and a big bra on the back step.
"It was only after a couple of weeks that we actually saw him come across
the road with a T-shirt in his mouth, that we realised it was Mo,' Mr Williams told the publication.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

Luckily, when he made this discovery, he had the perfect answer for his partner.
The clothes stolen by the cat includes socks, men's underwear, women's underwear and T-shirts.

In one week the cat stole a box worth of stuff with up to 30 or 40 pieces of clothing. Mr Williams
routinely returns the clothing to his neighbours, who are so far taking the the cats bad habits well.
'If anyone is watching this and they are missing some clothing from Mount Eden, please come
and see me, more than likely I will have them,' Mr Williams said. [Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig]

This Cat falling in love with a heater during cold weather will make your day ...

It’s been pretty cold lately! With record-breaking low temperatures across much of
the Northern Hemisphere, everyone is finding ways to keep warm and cozy from
the freeze outside.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

Japan is no different, with heavy snow in Tokyo bringing snowmen out on to the streets
recently, and it’s not just the people who are feeling chilly! This is Busao the cat, and he
just loves his heater. “Japan is so cold right now! All he wants is to warm up more,”
Busao’s owner Ryuji Tan told [Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig]

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

To be honest, we think that perhaps he loves it just a little bit too much. In some of
his pics, he seems to be almost worshiping the lamp as some kind of divine source
of life, and we are pretty sure he has lost quite a few whiskers by flying too close to the sun!

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

Ryuji Tan adopted Busao from the streets of Ibaraki, where he lives. “Busao was
originally a stray cat, he told Bored Panda. “I think that he is about 9 years old.”
He regularly posts pictures of his beloved cat on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube,
so you can follow him there along with thousands of other Busao fans, he is popular
in Japan and is starting to become known around the world too!

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

Oblivious to his fame, Busao’s contented look suggests that he will be spending the
whole winter in exactly the same place. Cozy and warm right next to his beloved heater. If only we could do the same…

Man pranks police with amazing snow sculpture ...

The next time there's a huge snowfall, don't batten down the hatches, turn up the
thermostat and stay inside. Instead, get outside and creative with the snow , just
like Simon Laprise.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

The prankster, from Montreal, Canada, recently got very imaginative with a snow
sculpture he must have laboured over for ages. The stunning result was a very
realistic looking car resembling a Delorean from Back to the Future.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

Clearly a perfectionist, he even added an actual windscreen wiper. That said, Simon's
snow car was constructed in an illegal parking space, meaning it caught the eye of the police.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

While cruising the neighbourhood, a police car spotted the Simon's creation and pulled
up to ticket it. So convincing was the sculpture, that it managed to momentarily hoodwink
them. Eventually they figured out it was fake - and left Simon a special ticket to show
they appreciated his art.

It read, "You made our evening hahahahahaha : )" [Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig]

The man who's lived in a sand castle on Brazil beach for 22 years ...

For 22-years beach monarch Marcio Mizael Matolias has avoided high rents in an
upscale district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by living in a sand castle. But his unusual
home has not stopped the 44-year-old, known affectionately by locals as ‘The King’
from from pursuing his three passions:reading, golf and fishing.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

Matolias has no trouble putting on a regal air and happy to pose on his throne in front
of his castle, scepter in hand. However, unlike other monarchs, ‘King Marcio’ is personally
responsible for conducting repairs to his palace, whether it’s the dungeons or a door.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

He also has to constantly water his home to keep it from collapsing. Despite this, Matolias
says he would not have it any other way. He said: “I grew up in the Bay of Guanabara,
I always lived on the beach. People pay exorbitant rents to live in front of the sea, I do
not have bills and here I have a good life.”

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

While grandiose on the outside and with views of the pricy beach area, his house is just three
square metres and full of books.

Matolias, who is single and childless said there is just one drawback to his peaceful existence:
“The sand holds all the heat, so sometimes at night I can not sleep here, I'll spend the night at
a friend's house, but I prefer it here even if I have to lie outside by the sea,” he said.

Maybe Rats Aren't to Blame for the Black Death ...

Rats have long been blamed for spreading the parasites that transmitted plague throughout
medieval Europe and Asia, killing millions of people. Now, a provocative new study has modeled
these long-ago outbreaks and suggests that the maligned rodents may not be the culprits after all.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

The study, published on Monday in the journal PNAS, instead points the finger at human parasites—such
as fleas and body lice—for primarily spreading plague bacteria during the Second Pandemic, a series of
devastating outbreaks that spanned from the 1300s to the early 1800s.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

These outbreaks include the infamous Black Death, which wiped out a third of Europe’s population in the
mid-1300s, amassing a body count in the tens of millions. “The plague really transformed human history,
so it’s really important to understand how it was spreading and why it was spreading so fast,” says lead
study author Katharine Dean, a doctoral research fellow at the University of Oslo’s Centre for Ecological
and Evolutionary Synthesis. [Versteckter Link - Registrierung notwendig]

Alligators frozen in ice by US cold snap ...

A North Carolina swamp park has posted a video explaining how alligators survive in a frozen pond, and it’s both creepy and bizarre.

[Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig]

The cold-blooded animals essentially allow themselves to be frozen in place, with their noses just above the surface,
according to a video posted on Facebook by Shallotte River Swamp Park in Ocean Isle Beach. That’s about 200 miles east of Charlotte.

What passersby see is noses and teeth – really big teeth – sticking out of the ice. That ice formed last week when a massive
“bomb cyclone” storm blew up the coastline, bringing record lows. The family-owned outdoor adventure park’s “alligators on ice”
video has received tens of thousands of views on Facebook.
