Jules Bianchi - Marussia F1 Team - 1:40.825 + 4.092 22. Max Chilton - Marussia F1 Team - 1:41.293 + 4.560 Vettel leads final practice : It really was no surprise as Red Bull teammates Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber topped Free Practice 3 for the United States Grand Prix. The ambient air temperature at the start of the 60-minute session was 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius), and the track temperature was 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius.) As in FP2, Heikki Kovalainen was first out in the Lotus. Jules Bianchi set the first time, a 1:43.098 in his Marussia. And Daniel Ricciardo set the second time, a 1:40.098 in his Toro Rosso. 12 minutes into the session, Ricciardo had lowered the best time to a 1:38.810, but then Adrian Sutil beat that with a 1:38.559 in his Force India. Sutil then improved to a 1:38.289. 15 minutes into the session, only 10 drivers had set times as guys like Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) and Ferrari teammates Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa remained in the pits. 16 minutes into the session, Nico Rosberg posted the second best time, a 1:38.625, in his Mercedes. 18 minutes into the session, Mark Webber topped the list with a 1:38.158 in his Red Bull. 20 minutes into the session, Romain Grosjean (Lotus) beat that with a 1:37.829 only to see Vettel turn a 1:37.684. Vettel went even faster with a 1:37.433. Webber was now third after clocking a 1:37.972. At this time all the drivers were running the hard compound Pirelli slicks. At the midpoint of FP3 the top six were: Vettel, Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber), Grosjean, Jenson Button (McLaren,) Webber and Sergio Perez (McLaren.) All but Perez were below the 1 minute 38 second barrier. With 22 minutes remaining in the session, Valtteri Bottas slotted his Williams into second place with a time of 1:37.759 as Webber moved into third with a 1:37.790. With 20 minutes remaining in the session, only five drivers were on the track. The rest were in the pits having their cars prepared for qualifying simulation runs on the medium compound tires. One of drivers out there was Webber who improved to a 1:37.626. With 15 minutes remaining in the session, everybody was in the pits. With 13 minutes remaining in the session, Bianchi was the first to head out on the softer tires. Perez was next out, and more drivers followed him on track. With 8 minutes remaining in the session, Button took over second with a 1:37.621. Sutil moved into fourth with a 1:37.748. With 6 minutes remaining in the session, only three drivers were in the pits as Hulkenberg topped the list with a 1:37.356. With 5 minutes remaining in the session, every driver was on track. With 4 minutes remaining in the session, Webber went second quickest at 1:37.418. With 3 minutes remaining in the session, Hulkenberg improved to a 1:37.272 as Grosjean went third best with a 1:37.431. With 1 minute remaining in the session, Vettel turned a 1:36.733 to snatch first place. Webber improved to a 1:36.938 to take second place. And at the very end of the session Hamilton moved up to third with a 1:37.064. The top 10 at the end of FP3 were: Vettel, Webber, Hamilton, Hulkenberg, Grosjean, Button, Rosberg, Perez, Bottas and Sutil. Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi |

Newsupdate :
Button hit with grid penalty for overtaking under red : Jenson Button has been hit with a three-place grid penalty for overtaking under red flag conditions during Friday morning practice for the United States Grand Prix. The McLaren driver was found to have passed another car after the session was red-flagged because of a problem with the medical helicopter. The incident happened just 14 minutes into the delayed session and has led to the 2009 world champion being punished under Appendix H, article 2.4.4.1 of the FIA International Sporting Code. This states that when the red flag is shown "overtaking is forbidden and drivers should remember that race and service vehicles may be on the track, the circuit may be totally blocked because of an accident and weather conditions may have made the circuit undriveable at racing speed." It is the first time Button has been hit with a grid penalty in 2013. Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi |

Valtteri Bottas - Williams - 1:39.512 + 2.207 17. Jean-Eric Vergne - Toro Rosso - 1:39.579 + 2.274 18. Pastor Maldonado - Williams - 1:39.784 + 2.479 19. Charles Pic - Caterham - 1:40.376 + 3.071 20. Giedo van der Garde - Caterham - 1:40.563 + 3.258 21. Max Chilton - Marussia F1 Team - 1:46.226 + 8.921 22. Jules Bianchi - Marussia F1 Team - 1:47.009 + 9.704 Sebastian Vettel goes fastest in second F1 practice : Sebastian Vettel returned to the top of the timesheets during second practice for the United States Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver posted a 1:37.305 on the Medium tyre to lead team-mate Mark Webber by just over one tenth of a second, with Mercedes duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton occupying third and fourth. In a pleasant contrast to the opening session, the drivers enjoyed all 90 minutes of scheduled action this afternoon. During the Hard tyre runs, Vettel quickly asserted his authority, eclipsing the pace-setting time posted by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso in FP1. As the switch to the Medium rubber arrived, Vettel maintained his advantage over the field and ultimately ended the day 0.115 seconds ahead of Webber. Mercedes drivers Rosberg and Hamilton emerged as Red Bull's closest rivals, while Heikki Kovalainen starred en route to fifth position during only his second session with the Lotus team. Sauber's Esteban Gutiérrez and Nico Hülkenberg continued their strong start to the weekend in sixth and seventh positions, while Lotus' Romain Grosjean, penalised McLaren driver Jenson Button and the aforementioned Alonso completed the top ten. At the tail-end of the order, Charles Pic and Giedo van der Garde comfortably led the battle of the sport's newest teams. Perhaps concerningly for Marussia, Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi were 8.9 seconds and 10.6 seconds off the ultimate pace. Chilton's late final corner spin and stoppage – after his brake pedal jammed shut – was the biggest incident, with the majority of the afternoon session void of drama. Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi |

Alexander Rossi - Caterham - 1:41.399 + 3.056 20. Max Chilton - Marussia F1 Team - 1:41.605 + 3.262 21. Charles Pic - Caterham - 1:42.054 + 3.711 22. Rodolfo Gonzalez - Marussia F1 Team - 1:43.716 + 5.373 Fernando Alonso leads bizarre first practice for Ferrari : Free Practice 1 for the United States Grand Prix was shortened considerably as the session was delayed because fog prevented the medical helicopter from flying, started and run for 15 minutes, stopped because there were further problems with the helicopter, and finally restarted and run for 32 minutes. At the end of all that stop/go, Fernando Alonso had clocked the fastest time in his Ferrari. The ambient air temperature at the start of the 90-minute session was 59 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius), and the track temperature was 64 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius.) But the session did not start on time because it was too foggy for the medical helicopter to fly. So officials delayed the start by 10 minutes. They then delayed it a further 10 minutes. And then another 10. And another 10. Finally, the officials announced that that FP1 would now commence 40 minutes after its scheduled time and last 60 minutes. Substitutions for FP1 were: Daniil Kvyat replacing Jean-Eric Vergne in the Toro Rosso; Rodolfo Gonzales in the Marussia instead of Jules Bianchi; and Alexander Rossi in the Caterham instead of Guido van der Garde. Heikki Kovalainen, who will drive the Lotus for the last two races of the season as Kimi Raikkonen is going to have back surgery, was the first out on the 20-turn 3.425-mile (5.513-km) Circuit of The Americas. Jenson Button clocked the first lap time of the session, setting a 1:41.943 in his McLaren. He then lowered that to a 1:40.468. His soon to be ex-teammate Sergio Perez slotted into second with a time of 1:46.135. Rossi was a distant third with a time of 1:54.688. Button, meanwhile, lowered his time to a 1:39.493 while Perez improved to a 1:39.672. 12 minutes into the session, these were the only three drivers to set a lap time as everybody else had just done installation laps. Then Nico Hulkenberg joined the party, taking third place with a 1:43.036 in his Sauber, and Charles Pic (Caterham) set the fifth fastest time at 1:49.661. 15 minutes into the session, the red flag stopped the session as there were further problems with the medical helicopter. It was a mechanical problem of some sort because the fog had burned away by this stage. So the top five, and the only five to set a time, were: Button, Perez, Hulkenberg, Rossi and Pic. Eventually another helicopter appeared but the session remained under red flag conditions. Perhaps it was not a medical chopper. It wasn't. With 33 minutes into the session, another medical helicopter arrived. The session restarted a minute later, so the drivers and teams had 32 minutes to get their work done. Esteban Gutierrez got things rolling in his Sauber. Within a couple of minutes everybody except Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) was on the track. They were running Pirelli's hard compound slick with the orange sidewalls. With 25 minutes remaining in the session, all 22 drivers were in action. With 22 minutes remaining in the session, Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) beat Button's previous number one time with a 1:38.767. And Valtteri Bottas slid into second with a 1:38.901 in his Williams. Button turned a 1:39.063 for third place. With 19 minutes remaining in the session, Alonso improved to a 1:38.343 and Bottas to a 1:38.802. Bottas later lowered that to a 1:38.388. The action on the track was frantic as the drivers tried to get as many laps as possible in during the shortened session. With 15 minutes remaining in the session, the top six were: Alonso, Bottas, Button, Felipe Massa (Ferrari), Mark Webber (Red Bull) and Hulkenberg. With 10 minutes remaining in the session, things quieted down a bit as the drivers headed to the pits for adjustments on their cars. With 7 minutes remaining in the session, the Mercedes boys were on the move as Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton took over fifth and sixth spots. Alonso, Bottas, Button and Gutierrez held the top four slots. With 5 minutes remaining in the session, Button grabbed second with a time of 1:38.371. With 2 minutes remaining in the session, Gonzales parked his Marussia at Turn 13. The top 10 at the end of the delayed and shortened FP1 were: Alonso, Button, Bottas, Gutierrez, Rosberg, Hamilton, Massa, Webber, Hulkenberg and Pastor Maldonado (Williams.) Circuit of the Americas – United States Gran Prix – Austin(Texas)
2° edition (18th round of the 2013 Formula 1 World Championship) The US Grand Prix has a long history in Formula One, but with different denominations(Usa, Usa West, Usa Est and so on). The races were held on different circuits in the past: Watkins Glen(by far the best), Long Beach, Las Vegas, Detroit, Dallas, Phoenix, Indianapolis and others. From last year the GP takes place in Texas at Austin. The track is good enough with varying elevation changes. The first part of the circuit is the best with an uphill curve, similar at the beginning of old and fabulous Osterreichring circuit in Austria, then there is a high speed Esses section like to Maggotts/Beckets/Chapel complex at Silverstone. In the second sector there's a long straight, with a hairpin at either end. The third sector is the slowest part of the track. The Circuit of the Americas is quite demanding for tyres, above all in the high-speed first sector. Pirelli will bring hard compound(orange stripe) and medium compound (white stripe). The same combination used this year on many circuits (Monza Spa Sepang, Suzuka and others. There will be two DRS zones on the start finish straight and on the long straight in the second sector between Turn n. 11 and n. 12 winner, Podium and pole position(2012): 1°Hamilton(Mc Laren) 2° Vettel and 3° Alonso - Fastest lap: Vettel pole position : Vettel 1'35''657 last year free practice one: 1.38.125 - fp2: 1.37.718 - fp3: 1.36.490 The stats of this season(2013) after 17 races. Kimi Raikkonen to miss rest of 2013 F1 season for back surgery :
Kimi Raikkonen is to miss the final two races of the 2013 Formula 1 season after electing to undergo back surgery next week. The Finn had been at the centre of a pay dispute with his Lotus bosses in Abu Dhabi last weekend, but it appeared that matters had been sorted so he could compete in the United States and Brazil. However, in a fresh twist, the back issues that nearly forced Raikkonen out of the Singapore Grand Prix earlier this year flared up enough for him to choose to take early surgery. Rather than travel to the United States for the final events of the season, Raikkonen will now fly to Salzburg for the operation. His manager Steve Robertson confirmed that Raikkonen's 2013 campaign was over, as it is estimated that there is a four-week recovery period. The news was first broken in Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat. Had Raikkonen waited until after the season, then there was a chance that it could have impacted on his preparations for 2014 with Ferrari. Robertson told : "In an ideal world it would have been nice to finish the season with Lotus in the final two grands prix. "However, due to the severe pain that Kimi is having, sadly it is not possible." It is unclear how Raikkonen's absence will impact on his pay issues with Lotus, especially with the team's new investor Quantum Motorsports having not yet finalised its 35 per cent buy-in to the outfit. Lotus now has just a few days to decide on a replacement driver. It could decide to promote reserve driver Davide Valsecchi to the race seat or swoop for another available driver. Kind Regards Shaky - Schumi |
