Confucus reveals a phrase

I am not in a bad mood. For those that know what I write about, I am mature enough to appreciate that the better team won.

As I sat down for the second half of a then quite evenly balanced contest I had one eye on the game and another at a rather strange picture. Was this the first sighting of a new planet ? It sure looked like something straight out of 'The Sky At Night'. And all it would have taken was for Sir Patrick Moore to flounce into view. Yet some six minutes later I finally realised that I had not also stumbled on the wrong channel.

But the point I am trying to make and will continue to drive home until it is done in a more transparent way ( as is already done in several night shows). The persistence of these directors (for want of a more appropiate word) to start in this fashion is actually costing their employer revenue. And while it may be clawed back, a casual or new viewer coming across this will think there is no channel and will move on elsewhere.

And if you want the perfect illustration of how it can be done then you need only go back a few days to Tuesday night and the 'good mood cookie show'. It would have been so easy for the regie to point the camera for those 10 minutes while he got it together at that bowl of fruit which had been previewed a little earlier. But instead we saw a fine pair of ripening plums.

The complaint has been made that there was too much focus on this pair of plums and not on the riper fruit which was being unpeeled. But the plaintif should realise by now that there is more than one variety of fruit in the bowl. That fruit may not be to his taste but someone is appreciating it. And if focus is on the newer varieties it is for a good reason. The plums are ripining and are producing more than the tired and tested. And there is no smelling pisstake in that last sentence.

Confucus would have put it another way. He would have said "Girl with a full mouth does not do much talking" which modernly translates to "If you sit next to the goodies, try not to scoff the lot especially when the camera is on you as if the viewers see that then they are most likely not to call as they would not get many words out of you"
