Dream Screens or Shattered Dreams ?

Warning. There is nothing special in the following words so do not be disappointed should you bother to read them. I have mentioned before of recent occasions where we saw things that are not supposed to be allowed now and in the early afternoon on Friday I saw another one. There was no model exposure here but at 14:00 CET they showed a picture graphic which looked like a lead-in to another program. It was an animation based around the picture frame in the 'classic' studio just with the word "Dream Screens" inside it. The animation ended with a countdown clock. Initially I thought that this was meant as a permanent lead-in for the new content but since it has not been, as far as I am aware, repeated then it has lead me to another conclusion. More proof that the content is been transmitted elsewhere and that is the prime reason for the new policy. A very long time ago I heard a rumour that the tv planned on introducing men into the broadcasts. I assumed that the logic was to attract a wider audience possibly female. But back in those days, when shows were considerably warmer, if you introduced a typical homo-sapiens into the show there was a real danger that he would get a little excited, just like that guy in the Big Sister club when talking to Sabrina. So it seems that idea was shelved until the conditions were more favourable. Now, if you introduce a gay guy into the action there is virtually no danger of him getting a stiffy. And for the rest of us there is also no danger in getting a stiffy as the minute there may be some action we get a wonderful camera shot of said 'model' which is guaranteed to turn off practically every other viewer. And in the best traditions of ETV overkill, what was initially a once-a-week novelty has turned into a 4 or 5 times-a-week night-show nightmare. Now this 'model' can hardly appeal to a female audience. I hardly think that they are going for a gay audience so that only leaves the Arabic angle - an angle they tried before but then the model, who was female, would not come in front of the camera. If only this one would do likewise. So my dear ETV. I trust you like your present dream screens, or should that read screen dreams, and sincerely hope that they are not shattered as quickly as many of the past have been. |
