Hello guys, Newtown Isle of Wight S UK
this National Nature Reserve is the only one on the I.O.W something to offer boat owners, wetlands wildlife abound! waikers.wildlife enthusiasts and historians are catered for Flower rich meadows,ancient woodlands,rare butterflies. red squirrels and alive with birds! especially spring and winter a power station was turned down in the 60.'s thanks to the local residents doing wildlife surveys proving how special the place is well done Nature!! the landscape has changed little since medieval times best regards guys! There is one important difference in this nature reserve it was the first reserve in the south to introduce Highland Cattle!! the reserve has every other habitants and facilities that you would expect to find in a Nature reserve but the cattle make it unique!! as we are used to seeing only sheep here!! best regards guys!! hi guys, Ditchling Beacon, Brighton E Sussex
High above Brighton Town lies Ditchling Beacon an important Iron Age hill fort site,owned now by The Wildlife Trust.When a road was opened, sheep grazing was stopped the site became covered with hawthorn and scrub. hey guys, Stodmarsh bird observatory E Kent a fantastic reserve

of abandoned chalk quarry, which has been dramatically reclaimed by Nature, many important habitats, fascinating geology and rare orchids the Thanet observatory is at this location also, the first artificial bat cave built in the UK , Avery well equiped field centre, bookshop and picnic areas are on site also!, With regards guys! Wallingford, Oxfordshire, Extensive wild life areas.wet lands.fen,reed beds and woodlands,suitable for mammals,vole.bats,otters will have a man made habitat!! bird species lark.yellow hammer and corn bunting will benefit from the new Nature Reserve, as will invertebrates and amphibians,creasted newt etc designated area of significance for wildfowl and wildlife,paths will give the visitors the advantage to observe views over the wetland habitats Regards guys! Morning friends,.....Beckenham Place Park Kent.
This fabulous park and farmland became an important Estate from the 18th century, Beckenham Manor has medieval origins and was mentioned tn the Doomsday Book! 214 acres public space since1927 There is an 18 hole golf course.60 acres ancient woodiand,formal gardens a sensory garden and a riverside walk the Nature trail leads to natural areas of habitat which gives it a status as local Nature Reserve waterfowl and wildlife! To the south of me is the major city in my area, Bristol.
Bristol's history has some dark episodes but that's the past and nothing can be done to change it. Bristol's geography is delightful, giving rise to it being a major port in the past but the limit on the size of ship able to navigate the River Avon into the city led to its demise as a port with Avonmouth and Portbury taking over that role. Most modern cities are approached through suburbs created from villages absorbed into the urban mish-mash of the city and in the majority of cases this is true for Bristol. The exception is due to its maritime history around the River Avon, which flows out of the city through The Avon Gorge, passing Avonmouth and Portbury as it reaches the Bristol Channel. You don't need to be on the water to experience the majority of this journey as The Portway follows alongside The River Avon into the city. The Avon Gorge is a fascinating place. The steep walls of the gorge support some rare fauna and flora, including species unique to the gorge. There are a total of 24 rare plant species and two unique trees. The steep gorge walls make an ideal habitat for peregrine falcons, with a plentiful supply of food nearby in the form of pigeons and sea gulls. Peregrines have a history of nesting in the gorge, but having become rare in the British Isles they did not breed and were rarely seen in the gorge after the 1930s. In 1990 Peregrines returned to the gorge, and have successfully bred in most of the following years. On warm days a strong uplift forms in the gorge, on which birds of prey soar while hunting. The gorge also houses large populations of Jackdaw and horseshoe bats, both of which find homes in the caves and bridge buttresses. There is a famous suspension bridge which crosses the gorge, designed by a man called Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Uniquely at the time, he opened it to the public so that anyone could enjoy getting close to nature. Over the years Slimbridge has flourished and the WWT has expanded to nine Wetland Centres in the UK, with a million visitors each year. In 1973, Sir Peter Scott received his knighthood for his services to conservation. WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre is often referred to as the birthplace of modern conservation. This is quite embarrassing i live only a 1/2 km from here walked the dogs there but never knew it's name!!! it is not massive and the road to dungeness is close by , but it always seemed to be stuffed with all things with Nature in mind!!, at least now after being here for 27 years i can put a name to this piece of scrub and grasses a mini Nature reserve of my own perhaps??!! best wishes guys!!
