the Trail runs for 246km from Farnham in county of surrey to Dover in kent

Re: Nature - Discussion & Chat

hey guys, we do not have Mountains or stunning views to show you!! plenty of views, but different!!
The Romney Marsh is very flat except for the South Downs ending at Dover(White cliffs!!)
the North Downs connecting both regions there are good views to wonder at! but not scenic mountains or waterfalls!!
the marsh interests me it always offers something out of the ordinary! So just a beautiful place to live! so
some photos of a place very dear to me Stuffed full of Nature coping very
well in a bleak area Cheers guysSmile

Re: Nature - Discussion & Chat

Good morning Guys, Human Nature, This time man against the
elements that Mother Nature can throw at us!! There has been a
lifeboat station at Dungeness Point since 1826 answering all types
of distress calls when Nature goes a little astray!!Man assisting Man!
not the usual Nature topic but I think it is worthy of a mention showing
human nature works very well when required!!
the lifeboat is launched from the beach using a tractor!1All crew are
volunteers from the area best regards guysSmileSmile

Re: Nature - Discussion & Chat

hey guys, Camber Sands Grass
the grass, called Marrum, is a very important part of
keeping the sand almost on the beach!!! the winds
blow the fine sand from the sea towards the land if it was
not for the marrum grass the sand would soon disappear!!
Nature unknowingly preserving the shore line! another helping
hand given to us to balance both sides , which of course is what
nature is all about!! Cheers guysSmileSmile

Re: Nature - Discussion & Chat

Hi Guys,.....River Ravenbourne SE London/Kent
This was another playground for me in the 1950's as the river ran
through many local parks! not a wide river, but it streched 17km It was
known locally as "the Quaggy" It rose at Caesar's Well, Keston ,Kent
and flowed into The Thames at Deptford SE London various areas were
created to help Nature get established over the years, mainly trees, shrubs
and plants to attract small wildlife to the river Nature getting a bit of help again
from man!! many species of birds now visit the areas' created! Cheers my friends!SmileSmile

Re: Nature - Discussion & Chat

hey guys, Elmstead woods Welling/Bromley Kent
My parents had friends who lived near to this wood so we used
to visit quite often when i was a lad, not much understanding
Of Nature then, but i can remember looking for squirrels!! and
seeing birds different from my back garden!! not a massive area
It had a busy road either side of it!
The woods first recordedin1350 with a manor House"Elmstead Manor"mentioned
don't know what happened to that!! It is now a site of special scientific interest!!
that's it guys!!SmileSmile
