Pvr real-time hardware encoding mpeg4

Component video is analogue, which means any recordings made with the Hauppauge device will need digital-analogue-digital conversion, not a good idea at all if you are wanting high quality recordings and at 1 GB for 120 minutes.

in marck 120's case to quote Shirtfull - this will be very lossy, and the end result also very disappointing. The product you require isn't available yet.

You're confusing resolution with format. Composite and S video are SD resolution (576/480)
So when recording using SD inputs, you'll get a SD resolution video in H264 format.

H264 and Mpeg are both compressed lossy formats

The format H264 AVC is a modern codec and allows for a lower bit rate for the same quality when compared to old mpeg.

Unfortunately, it records in compressed format. The specification says this :

Note: the video input format determines the recorded format. For example, 1080i input records at 1080i, 720P records at 720P, etc. .. Any other format conversions needs to be done with the MediaConvert program (supplied).

Doing the calculations: 1 MB per second = 60 MB per minute, 60 MB for 60 minutes = 3 GB and 600 MB x 2 = 7 GB and 200 MB. So a film of 120 minutes is 7 GB and 200 MB

These results will get recorded with the receiver. I wanted to get 120 minutes x 1 GB, do you think is possible to obtain a similar result ?

It is true, DVD HDD Recorder can not record to USB, but you can only store the recordings on DVD. I have a philips 5570H, with a 250 GB hard drive. To get a good quality video I record in HQ
