Not even last night gave truce: the snow continued to fall on Maranello and the surrounding areas and even this morning it did not seem to change. Forecasts are always negative, both in terms of snowfall than on the temperature, set down sharply.
Therefore, it was decided to cancel the presentation ceremony of the new car, scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10.30. It 'was a decision made in the light of unpredictable weather conditions and difficulties that were met with about three hundred guests including partners, authorities and media representatives to reach Maranello

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

I don't want to disappoint you all (especially I'm big fan of Kubica), but his comeback in 2012 is unreal, even as test driver. Why? Because we haven't had any confirmed news about his recovery since he left hospital (april 2011). We got some speculations about him, but all of those "news" were wrong Confused

Ok, I'll wait to 3.02, but I don't expect anything special

How unofficially learned Italian media, Robert Kubica will be in the upcoming season of Formula 1 test driver for Ferrari. With the Maranello team is to present the Pole in this role as early as 3 February during the presentation of a new car.

The information came circusf1.com service, and to this message refer to other Italian media. According to the site, Robert Kubica is to serve as a test driver in the first half of the season, and then - in the case where Felipe Massa wrote down is not the best - he could go back to law enforcement during the competition for the Grand Prix.

Pole would begin the season on the simulator, but soon would get a chance at one of the Friday practice. If the end of the year would come to full strength and was in good shape, according to media reports in the 2013 season would be a partner Fernando Alonso.

Ferrari hopes that Kubica employment as a "strong" third driver, mobilized to an even greater effort to Felipe Massa, who - according to the heads of the Italian company - in recent years, he wailed.

I am glad very much for Robert Kubica.
He is a great pilot and it was a big misfortune what happened to him.
Also, it will be a good help for Alonso, since they two are very good friends.

F1 News from this week :

Jerome D’Ambrosio ( Belgium) joins Lotus as third driver for 2012 ( Smile Thumb up )
The team has confirmed that Jerome D’Ambrosio will be Lotus’s third driver in 2012 . D’Ambrosio raced for Virgin in 2011 but was dropped by the team at the end of the year.Jerome will take the place of Kimi Raikkonen or Romain Grosjean if either are unable to race.
Team principal Eric Boullier added: “In Jerome we have someone we know well who integrates beneficially with the squad. He impressed as reserve driver for us in 2010 and at the end of that year he made a strong showing in the young driver test.”

Marussia to miss first pre-season test
The Russian-backed Marussia Formula One team have ruled out taking part in next month's first pre-season test in Spain because their new car will not be ready until March. “Marussia said on Tuesday their revised plan was to run last year’s car at the second test in Barcelona from February 21st and then the new car at the same circuit from March 1st.”
"We had been looking to take part in that (first) test with the 2011 MVR-02 for the purpose of providing Charles (Pic) with some valuable running to assist with the preparation for his debut season," team principal John Booth told autosport.com.This was with a view to introducing the new car, the MR01, at Barcelona two weeks later." "Unfortunately our programme has slipped and there seems little point in fielding the new car before we can optimise the run plan for it," said Booth.

Pedro de la Rosa is confident new HRT F1 car will be ready for second test
Pedro de la Rosa insists HRT's production of its new car is going to plan and is still hopeful he will be able to drive it during the second pre-season test at BarcelonaThe Spanish squad is working flat out to have its new single-seater ready in time for testing and, despite suggestions that there are delays with it, de la Rosa says he is staying calm.HRT is set to test its 2011 car in the opening session at Jerez, but de la Rosa is still hopeful the team will be able to run with the 2012 machine in the second test at Barcelona on February 21.
"The plan is to test with the old car at Jerez, and then run the new car in the Barcelona test on February 21. That's the plan," de la Rosa told AUTOSPORT.

Pirelli reveal softer compounds and new tyre colours for 2012
Pirelli will supply softer tyres in 2012 in a bid to further improve the standard of racing in Formula 1.
The tyre manufacturer revealed its 2012 F1 tyre range on Wednesday, including new soft, medium and hard tyre compounds. The super-soft compound remains unchanged, but all four dry-weather tyres will have a different construction in 2012 with a squarer profile.
Pirelli will also introduce a new wet-weather tyre. The intermediate tyre remains unchanged but the colours used to distinguish them will be revised – the intermediate tyre now has green colouring and the wet-weather tyre uses blue.
The dry-weather tyres will retain their 2011 colouring: red for super-soft, yellow for soft, white for medium and silver for hard.
According to Pirelli the banning of exhaust-blown diffusers has influenced their choice of tyres for 2012.
Pirelli added they intend to reduce the performance gap between the compounds from the 1.2-1.8 seconds seen last year to 0.6-0.8 seconds.
The new tyres will make their first appearance at the start of F1 testing at Jerez on February 7th.

Gascoyne says EBD ban and KERS introduction will help Caterham
Caterham chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne says the team stand to benefit from the ban on exhaust-blown diffusers in 2012.

Gascoyne said: “The fact it’s banned this year certainly plays to our advantage. Other teams had so much more development time, they were able to get much more out of it than we were ever able to, so that eliminates a little of the competition in terms of technical development.
“But really, aerodynamics is always one of the main features of development and that’s why we’ve put so much additional resource into it.”
He added the introduction of KERS to the team’s new F1 car will also help them close the gap to the midfield.
Having KERS embedded into our 2012 car is another good step forward for us. We had our best ever qualifying in relation to the cars ahead of us in Brazil, and with KERS we could have possibly out-qualified a few of them. So, again, we have another good reason to be very positive about 2012″“It’s the first year of real stability for us on the technical side, and by keeping the Renault Sport F1 engine and Red Bull Technology gearbox, we know exactly what we’re working with and what we can expect. Each year so far we’ve effectively not only had a new design team but also a new gearbox and engine combination.
“Now, however, we have a very stable design team under our technical director Mark Smith, and this means we can take a much bigger step forward in terms of the detail of the design – and that really showed in the homologation process.

Jules Bianchi gets third driver role at Force India
Jules Bianchi will be Force India’s third driver for the forthcoming season.

The team confirmed Bianchi will drive in at least nine Friday practice session during the year and will drive the team’s new car in pre-season testing.
Bianchi, who is part of the Ferrari driver development programme, said: “Being regularly in a current car is the best way to learn quickly and I hope it will put me in a strong position to one day move into a race seat.
“The next few months will be really exciting as I get to know the team, see how they work, and prepare for my time in the car. I would like to thank everyone for believing in me and especially Sahara Force India for giving me this great opportunity.”
Bianchi finished third in GP2 in 2010 and 2011.

Ferrari extends tests agreement Rigon

The 25-year-old Italian, who last year broke his tibia and fibula in a heavy crash in the GP2, will be the principal test and demonstration rider of the team in 2012 and 2013 .Rigon last year already conducted an aerodynamic test for Ferrari .
