Hamilton completes practice clean sweep :
Lewis Hamilton topped Saturday morning's final practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix, making it three out of three ahead of qualifying. The Mercedes driver edged out team-mate and championship leader Nico Rosberg, with Red Bull duo Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo finishing as the best of the rest.Hamilton posted a 1:24.048 during the late Soft tyre runs, putting him 0.047s clear of Rosberg as the chequered flag dropped. Rosberg's best time came on his third attempt, after making a mistake at Turn 12 on his opening lap. Although still a sizeable margin adrift of Hamilton, Vettel reduced the gap to four tenths of a second. Ricciardo and Williams' Valtteri Bottas – who reported improved track conditions – followed in fourth and fifth. Fernando Alonso did not post a time during the first half of the hour-long session, but immediately shot to the top of the timesheets on the Prime tyre. He ultimately fell to sixth when the field switched to the softer tyres. Kimi Räikkönen continued an encouraging weekend in seventh, ahead of McLaren rookie Kevin Magnussen. Toro Rosso drivers Jean-Éric Vergne and Daniil Kvyat rounded out the top 10 positions, with the remaining Williams and McLaren machines of Felipe Massa and Jenson Button narrowly missing out. It was two-by-two for the midfield runners, with Pastor Maldonado edging out Lotus team-mate Romain Grosjean, ahead of Sauber duo Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutiérrez and Force India's Nico Hülkenberg and Sergio Pérez. Kamui Kobayashi placed 19th to put Caterham ahead of Marussia, although Jules Bianchi was unable to complete a lap on Options.

Hamilton stays ahead in 2nd practice :
Lewis Hamilton stayed on top during second practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix, recording a best time of 1:24.482 on the Soft tyres to lead Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg by 0.238 seconds. Having set the pace in FP1, Hamilton continued where he left off when the pit lane re-opened, topping the early phase on the Medium compound. And when the switch to Options arrived, he remained fastest, gradually improving to the mid 1m24s to end the day just ahead of Rosberg. Although he experienced a few more wild moments behind the wheel of his Red Bull, Vettel wound up third fastest. The reigning World Champion was, however, six tenths of a second adrift of Hamilton's Silver Arrow. The Ferraris again featured near the front of the field at a circuit much less reliant on engine performance, with Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen taking fourth and sixth around McLaren's Kevin Magnussen.
Daniel Ricciardo put the second Red Bull seventh, just one hundredth clear of Valtteri Bottas' Williams. Jenson Button struggled for rear-end grip en route to ninth, while Felipe Massa, who suffered one of the session's more dramatic moments when he spun at the Turn 6/7 chicane, again rounded out the top 10. Toro Rosso team-mates Daniil Kvyat and Jean-Éric Vergne were next on the timesheets, with Force India duo Nico Hülkenberg and Sergio Pérez split by the Sauber of Adrian Sutil in positions 13 to 15. Lotus drivers Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean – the latter again severely hindered by cooling issues – wound up 16th and 17th respectively, with Sauber's Esteban Gutiérrez the last of the midfield runners. Kamui Kobayashi gave Caterham the edge over Marussia, outpacing Jules Bianchi by one tenth.

Hamilton fastest in1st Hungaroring practice :
Lewis Hamilton set the standard as the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend got underway on Friday morning. The Mercedes driver clocked a time of 1:25.814 in the opening session to lead team-mate Nico Rosberg by 0.183 seconds. Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen and Fernando Alonso were their nearest challengers. Fresh from his German Grand Prix triumph, which put him 14 points clear at the top of the championship standings, Rosberg controlled the early phase with Pirelli's extra set of Prime tyres. As the session developed, Rosberg and Hamilton gradually lowered their times on fresh rubber, but it was the latter – a four-time winner in Hungary – who came out on top by just under two tenths of a second. The Ferraris were the best of the rest, with Räikkönen six tenths and Alonso a full second adrift of Hamilton. Sebastian Vettel struggled with the balance of his car throughout the session, complaining that he lacked grip "everywhere". But the reigning World Champion still outpaced team-mate Daniel Ricciardo by half a second. The Red Bull pair were separated by McLaren rookie Kevin Magnussen and Toro Rosso's Jean-Éric Vergne. Jenson Button, who claimed his maiden victory at the Hungaroring eight years ago and also triumphed on his 200th race at the venue in 2011, wound up ninth, with Williams driver Felipe Massa completing the top 10. There were plenty of minor mistakes on a dusty track surface in the opening 90 minutes of action, but only Sauber's Adrian Sutil and Caterham's Marcus Ericsson suffered full-blown spins – both avoided damage.
Marussia's Max Chilton was restricted to little mileage after encountering a gearbox problem on his install lap.

The Hungarian Grand Prix - Hungaroring (near Budapest) uninterruptedly since 1986
11th round in the championship.
only one week after the German Grand Prix, the F1 circus goes to Budapest, for the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix. (25,26 and 27 July) Hungaroring is a permanent track, but has many characteristics of a street circuit, with tight corners and a twisty and tricky layout, where it’s difficult to overtake so strategy is especially important, because it offers a few opportunity to gain track position.
Pirelli has chosen the “White stripe - medium tyre compounds” and “Yellow stripe - soft tyre compound” for this weekend in Budapest The same combination as in China, Bahrain and Australia.
2013 winning strategy: 3 pit stops, but it seems 2 will be enough this year.

Rosberg cruises to German Grand Prix win :
Nico Rosberg took a comfortable victory during Sunday afternoon's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. The Mercedes driver distanced himself from the opening lap drama to lead from start to finish, with Valtteri Bottas taking second and team-mate Lewis Hamilton delivering a fine comeback drive for third. As the lights went out, Rosberg turned his pole position grid slot into a sizeable gap by the first corner, putting him clear of a nasty collision between Williams driver Felipe Massa and McLaren's Kevin Magnussen.
The bottleneck saw Massa tipped into the air by Magnussen, putting the Brazilian out on the spot and pushing the Dane down the order. After a short Safety Car period, Rosberg mastered the race restart and quickly pulled away from Bottas, an advantage that would ultimately increase to 20 seconds by the time the chequered flag dropped. It marked Rosberg's fourth victory of the 2014 campaign, after Australia, Monaco and Austria. While Rosberg and Bottas opted for two-stop plans, Hamilton – who started 20th – conducted his fight through the field on a three-stop strategy, picking off a number of rivals during a final stint on the Super Soft tyres.
Hamilton's afternoon was not free of scares, though, the Briton making sizeable contact with Sauber's Adrian Sutil, Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen and former McLaren team-mate Jenson Button at the hairpin. He picked up front wing damage in his clash with Button, but it was not enough to require a change. Hamilton went on to close in on second-placed Bottas, but third proved to be his limit, with the Williams possessing enough straight line speed to fend off an attack, even with the assistance of DRS. Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel was the next to cross the line after the podium finishers, while Ferrari's Fernando Alonso came out on top in a monumental scrap with Daniel Ricciardo for fifth position. Aside from Rosberg and Bottas, Force India's Nico Hülkenberg was the only other driver inside the top 10 to conduct a two-stop race, the German extending his 100 per cent points-scoring record for the season.
McLaren's Jenson Button took eighth, ahead of team-mate Magnussen. The Dane did well to regain his composure after clashing with Massa, an incident that required no further action from the stewards. Sergio Pérez rounded out the points for Force India, giving the team its sixth double score of the season. Räikkönen missed out in 11th, finishing eight seconds adrift of Pérez after a low key performance. In addition to Massa, Romain Grosjean, Daniil Kvyat and Adrian Sutil failed to make the finish. Grosjean's Lotus pulled off the track shortly after losing power, Kvyat was lucky to escape unharmed after his Toro Rosso dramatically caught fire and Sutil spun and stalled his Sauber at the exit of the final corner. In terms of the standings, Rosberg now holds a 14-point lead over Hamilton, with nine races remaining !

Rosberg on pole as Hamilton crashes out
Nico Rosberg claimed pole position for the German Grand Prix in Saturday's scorching qualifying session at Hockenheim after a heavy crash for Mercedes team-mate and championship rival Lewis Hamilton. Williams duo Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa posed the biggest threat en route to second and third. Rosberg, who had set the pace in the morning's final practice session, was given a clear run to the top spot when Hamilton suffered a right-front brake failure in Q1 and slid uncontrollably into the Turn 13 barriers.
Despite making it through to Q2, Hamilton could take no further part in the day's action after stepping out of a heavily damaged car.
Rosberg went on to record a 1:16.540 in the final shootout phase, confirming that the Silver Arrows package is still the strongest in Formula 1 without front-and-rear-interconnected suspension (FRIC) attached. Bottas and Massa emerged as the best of the rest, marking another positive day for the Williams team. Kevin Magnussen impressed en route to fourth, ahead of Red Bull duo Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel. Fernando Alonso and Ferrari had to settle for eighth at the end of a challenging session, while Toro Rosso rookie Daniil Kvyat and the Force Indias of Nico Hülkenberg and Sergio Pérez rounded out the top 10 places. Aside from Hamilton, Jenson Button and Kimi Räikkönen were the biggest names to fall in Q2, the pair due to share the sixth row of the grid on Sunday afternoon. The remaining Toro Rosso of Jean-Éric Vergne, Sauber's Esteban Gutiérrez and Lotus driver Romain Grosjean were the others to drop out at the second stage. Hamilton has the slender consolation of moving one place further up the grid, with Gutiérrez due to take a three-place drop for his incident with Pastor Maldonado at the previous British Grand Prix. Adrian Sutil appeared to suffer from his lack of track time in final practice en route to a Q1 exit. The Sauber driver was joined on the sidelines by Maldonado's Lotus plus the Marussia and Caterham pairings. Jules Bianchi managed to get the better of Maldonado for 18th position, while Max Chilton split Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson after the latter failed to complete a lap amid technical issues.

Rosberg tops final Hockenheim practice :
Nico Rosberg comfortably topped Saturday's final practice session for the German Grand Prix, setting a 1:17.779 to lead Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton by six tenths. Ferrari's Fernando Alonso finished third. After a sweltering first day at Hockenheim, the heat showed no signs of letting up, with air and track temperatures reaching 30°C and 50°C. Williams duo Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa led the initial Soft tyre runs as drivers worked through further race preparation, but the Silver Arrows regained the top two places when the switch to Super Softs arrived. Rosberg ultimately enjoyed a cleaner run, pulling out 0.601 seconds on his main championship rival. Alonso was only four thousandths adrift of Hamilton, with Massa getting the better of Bottas for fourth.
Kevin Magnussen, whose successful evaluation of a new front wing on Friday saw the upgrade carried over to both McLarens for the rest of the weekend, wound up sixth, ahead of Daniel Ricciardo's leading Red Bull. Kimi Räikkönen finished eighth but again lost track time due to a fuel system issue. The Finn was the first driver to switch to the Super Soft rubber before being forced to pit, thus missing out on the best of the conditions. The top 10 positions were rounded out by the Force India of Nico Hülkenberg. Jenson Button finished 13th. Towards the rear of the field, Jules Bianchi put his Marussia ahead of Pastor Maldonado's Lotus and Adrian Sutil's Sauber, the latter suffering a hybrid system issue and only managing to complete six laps. The Caterhams and the second Marussia of Max Chilton, plagued by an electrical fault, brought up the rear.

Hamilton pips Rosberg in 2nd practice :
Lewis Hamilton pipped Formula 1 title rival Nico Rosberg to the fastest time on the opening day of practice for the German Grand Prix. Rosberg had been the faster of the pair early in the session while on the slower medium-compound Pirellis, outpacing Hamilton by just over three tenths of a second. But the world championship leader made a mistake at Turn 2 on his first flying lap on super-soft rubber, meaning he was unable to improve his time until his next lap. Hamilton then put in a 1m18.341s on his first flier, setting the fastest time in the middle sector, with Rosberg ending up 24 thousandths of a second slower. Mercedes later had a problem in the pits when Hamilton came in and the team had Rosberg's tyre's ready, meaning that it took time to get his correct tyres. With Hamilton sat in the pits, Rosberg came in and had to queue to wait for the team to put on the correct tyres amid concerns about his brakes overheating. Daniel Ricciardo was third fastest for Red Bull, just a tenth off the pace, with Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen a strong fourth, half-a-second down. Kevin Magnussen continued his recent run of impressive form with fifth fastest, just ahead of Williams driver Felipe Massa, who was briefly second fastest in the early stages of the super-soft runs. World champions Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso were eighth and ninth fastest, the former failing to extract as big an improvement on super-soft rubber as those at the front. Sauber driver Adrian Sutil was 11th fastest for Sauber ahead of Daniil Kvyat, with Force India pairing failing to break the top 10 for the second grand prix Friday in a row in 13th and 14th place. Caterham had a troubled session, with both cars stopping on track. Kamui Kobayashi stopped with flames emerging from the rear of the car after completing 12 laps, while Marcus Ericsson was ordered to stop his car on track because of a drop in oil pressure after just three laps. But the team did get Ericsson's car back and he was able to return to the track in the final half hour, allowing him to set the 20th fastest time. With the ambient temperature at over 30C throughout the afternoon, track temperatures hit 58C, the highest so far this season.
