2017 FRENCH OPEN - DAY 15 (LAST) :
Results Finals : Men' s Singles : Rafael Nadal (4) won his 73rd ATP tournament in career (15th Slam and 10th French Open), defeating Stanislas Wawrinka (3) 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 after 2h 05' First set stayed in balance until 2-2, with Nadal saving the only break-point of the match in third game, then he broke twice Wawrinka, closing the set 6-2 after 43'; in second set the Spanish champion went immediately 3-0, closing the set 6-3 after 44', without giving a single chance to the Swiss champion to break him back; in third set Nadal broke Wawrinka in first game, then in fifth (the longest game of the match) and in seventh, closing the set in 40' and winning for the third time the French Open without losing a set and losing only 35 games in 7 matches; from tomorrow he will return world' s N° 2, almost three years since last time, in October 2014. 2017 FRENCH OPEN - DAY 14 :
Results Finals : Women' s Singles : Jelena Ostapenko won her first WTA tournament in career, defeating Simona Halep (3) 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in 1h 59' Incredible ending in the Women' s Singles Final of the French Open, where 20 y.o. Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (N° 47 WTA) won her first title in career in a Grand Slam tournament; in first set, after 4 breaks (two for each of the players) in the first 6 games Halep broke Ostapenko in 10th game, winning the set 6-4 after 38'; in second set the Romanian went 3-0 and failed three 4-0 opportunities, then the Latvian won four games in a row, Halep managed to break her back, but on 4-4, she lost again her serve and Ostapenko won the set 6-4 after 49'; in third set Halep went 3-1, but Ostapenko won 5 consecutive games winning her first Major and from next Monday she will be world' s N° 13, while Halep failed to win her first Grand Slam title and to become world' s N° 1.
