Results Finals : Men' s Singles : Rafael Nadal (1) won his 74th ATP tournament in career (16th Grand Slam and third US Open), defeating Kevin Anderson (28) 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 after 2h 27' After 4 break-points saved in his first three service games, Anderson lost his serve in 7th game, with Nadal closing the set 6-3 with another break after 59'; second set was decided by an only break, made by the Spanish champion in 6th game and kept until the final 6-3 after 40'; in third set the world' s N° 1 broke the South African player in the first game and kept the advantage until the final 6-4, closing the match at second match-point without facing a single break-point on his serve and winning his second Slam in this season (after the French Open) and his third US Open, after 2010 and 2013. Results Finals : Women' s Singles : Sloane Stephens won her 5th WTA tournament in career (first Grand Slam and fourth on hard), defeating Madison Keys (15) 6-3, 6-0 after 1h 01' In the first set of the all American final between two players who had never reached a Slam final, Stephens (N° 83 WTA) broke Keys (N° 16 WTA) in 5th game, closing then the set with another break 6-3 after 30', without facing a single break-point; in second set Keys (who had the right thigh banded due to a problem suffered during her semifinal) was completely dominated and Stephens went 4-0, saving then three consecutive break-points in the very next game and closing the match with a 6-0 at third match-point, winning the most prestigious tournament in her career and from Monday she will return in the WTA Top 20, as N° 17.
