Finals Complete Results : Men' s Singles : Rafael Nadal (1) won his 79th ATP tournament in career (17th Grand Slam, 11th and second consecutive French Open), defeating Dominic Thiem (7) 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 after 2h 42' The world' s N° 1 writes another page of history, winning a Grand Slam tournament for the 11th time (before him, only Margareth Court did it with the Australian Open); in first set Nadal went 2-0, but was immediately broke back and the set was decided in the tenth game, when Thiem lost his serve and the set after 58'; second set was decided by an only break, made by the Spanish champion in second game and kept, without giving a single chance to the Austrian to break-back, until the final 6-3 after 54'; in third set Nadal broke twice his opponent, in third and in seventh game, closing the match at fifth match-point. Finals Complete Results : Women' s Singles : Simona Halep (1) won her 17th WTA tournament in career (first Grand Slam and 7th on red clay), defeating Sloane Stephens (10) 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 after 2h 03' At the fourth attempt and after two finals lost in Paris, finally Simona Halep managed to win her first Grand Slam title; the first set was decided by a single break, made by the American in the fourth game and held until the final 6-3 after 42'; in the second set Stephens went immediately 2-0, then the Romanian broke her twice in a row, going 4-2, but she immediately lost her serve and the set was decided when the American lost her serve on 5-4 for her opponent, who closed at the first set-point after 44'; in the third set the Halep took advantage of the mental collapse of her rival, flying 5-0 and then closing 6-1 at the first match-point, bringing back a Romanian on the throne of Paris 42 years after Virginia Ruzici and consolidating her first place in the WTA ranking, while Stephens will be consoled with her best-ranking of N ° 4 from next Monday.
