2019 ROLAND GARROS - DAY 15 (LAST) :
Results Finals : Men' s Singles : Rafael Nadal (2) won his 82nd ATP tournament in career (18th Grand Slam and 12th Roland Garros, third consecutive), defeating Dominic Thiem (4) 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 after 3h 01' In first set, Thiem was the first to break in fifth game, but then Nadal broke him twice in a row, closing the set 6-3 after 56'; second set was decided by an only break, made by Thiem in 12th game, when all were expecting to see a tie-break and, after 51', match was tied; third set was dominated by the Spanish player, who immediately went 4-0 and then closed the set 6-1 after only 24'; in fourth set Nadal was still dominant, going 3-0 and closing the match with the last break on 4-1; for the Spanish champion this was the 93rd victory in 95 matches played in Paris, while Thiem lost his second Roland Garros final in a row. Djokovic 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 Women' s Singles : Ashleigh Barty won her fifth WTA tournament in career (first Grand Slam and first on red clay), defeating Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-3 after 1h 10' In first set Barty started much better than Vondrousova and went immediately 4-0, then the Czech player broke her in fifth game, but she lost again her serve in the following game, with the Australian player closing the set 6-1 after 30'; in second set Barty immediately broke her opponent, then both players kept their serves until 5-3, when, with the fifth break of her match, the Australian could lift her first Major trophy in career and from Monday she will become world' s N° 2.
