I'm not a very happy man tonight, Scotland were all over England tonight but I guess its goals that count and not attacking or exciting football that wins matches. We had so many chances to score against the English tonight but it was hopeless, not once did we ever test the England keeper, the strikers were fucking woeful. For any professional footballer worth his bread and butter he has to at least do the basics such as hit the target and with precision.
England on the other hand were slow, lethargic and in general an absolute bore of a team to watch when they were in possession, the 3-0 scoreline flattered them, I am absolutely gutted tonight. Gordon Strachan must go, we only have 4 points and its virtually impossible for us to qualify now, even if we win the remainder of our games ![]() |

I also just want to add, had it not been for the kindness or humanity shown by a German soldier then I wouldn't be around here to make this post today as my Great Grandfather pretended to lye dead on the field with the enemy hovering up and down him with a fully loaded weapon which went up and down him before leaning down merely to take a cigarette out of his top pocket, light it up and then walk away........
![]() We are now less than 2 hours to kick off with the Auld enemy and yes it is just a qualification game but its more than that, its about pride, its about bragging rights and its about history. Scotland playing England is bigger than any other match to me on the planet. The fixture is steeped in history and already my nerves are shattered and a ball hasn't even been kicked yet ![]() [Verstecktes Bild - Registrierung notwendig] I'm not going to make any score prediction but lets just say all the pressure will be on the English, let battle commence ![]() |

I also don't think that FIFA are fully aware of why we do it. They view it as political, yes you could make some small argument as to it being that way but in reality its seen as a mark of respect which we like to show to those who laid their lives down for the country. In war there is no winners, just victims. The poppy is a symbol of peace and remembrance. Its the very least we can do, it has nothing whatsoever to do with VE Day and if it did then I would fully understand FIFAs standpoint. Good and evil exist on both sides of the fence and celebrating a symbol of peace should be a united gesture. No way this is political, it' s only a mark of respect, as you say, but what else can you expect by those who have respect for nothing except the money ? ![]() There are players in every league who receive yellow or red cards just for showing under their shirts a message for a team mate who is seriously injured or even dead, it' s unbelievable, I can agree about punishing political messages, but not about personal feelings for people who are injured or dead. |

Talking of FIFA, they have no power over the way the European leagues are run because if they did Scotland's game would go bankrupt as having your league sponsored by Ladbrokes isn't ideal as they are a gambling company but they bring vital money to the very existence of the club teams and William Hill which is another gambling firm provides the sponsor for the Scottish Cup. Both do not conform to FIFA's strict policy's. Funny how an organisation such as them should have such self righteous high morales after all the years of corruption and back door payments these lot have been up to ![]() |

Scottishbloke wrote:Well if you don't object to me asking you this question Italianfan, what is the Italian viewpoint on all of this or even your opinion or anybody else's opinion for that matter, come on folks lets discuss, as I said on one of my previous posts, no point having a discussion Thread if there is to be no discussion Well, in Italy we don' t remember this specific day in sports events, even if we lost thousands of soldiers in World Wars and many of them were football players or coaches. However, my personal viewpoint is that England, Scotland and Wales are absolutely right and FIFA, as always, is absolutely wrong and I see no reasons to reject their requests, I really hope FIFA will let them do what they want. |
