Another Rapidshare Issue

Anybody been having probs uploading in the last couple of days?

Had lots of failed connects and when I do connect the upload seems stuck around 5 to 6 kb/s. Have been happily uploading to Newsgroups (via Giganews) at around 80 kb/s.

I was just wondering why most people use Rapidshare to upload? Apart from it being the biggest one out there, of course.

But with all the hassle of 2 minute waits, trying to identify cats, and hourly and daily limits, it doesn't seem worth it much. I've been trying to download to-day, but get "Download session invalid" for no apparent reason. Even getting a new IP address and clearing the cache doesn't work! (why not I wonder?)

[hidden link - please register] (which has a top 20 that doesn't include Rapidshare!) seems to suggest that the best host is called [hidden link - please register] - just taking a quick look shows that there are no waits and no cats ( ! ) for downloading, and the 250MB per file / expire 30 days after last download is the same as Rapidshare.

I had  a similar problem with RS during the week, in the evening a file was about three quarters uploaded and the last quarter crept in at 6 kb/s. It took over an hour for 25 MB. Normally I achieve 71 kb/s max which drops to around 65 kb/s constant. Even when a Skype full screen is being transmitted from my router it only drops to about 48 kb/s. This morning between 06.00 and 09.00 three files all went up very quickly. I can only presume the congestion is at RS and you get diverted to a secondary server using a 56 k modem.

I did wonder about that but have not had this problem in the past.

I can d/l from Rapidshare at just over 1000 kb/s. If a provider was going to cap Rapidshare then surely it would apply both down and up?
