Almost a month since i last checked and only 2 months left to have your say the count now is up to 683.
The last petition if i'm right only got just over 120, so lets hope if someone does another in the future the count will be much higher again  Has i said you still have 2 months remaining though, so add your name...Thx

Reached the next milestore, 600 votes today. Should have been at the weekend but the Governments petition website was down for an upgrade. Progress has been slow - if you value babechannels, are UK based, and have not voted yet please do so before they get hounded out of existence. If you know someone else who might be interested or are a member of another forum why not pass the message on? Even if we dont achieve 100,000 votes, its still important to show that freedom of speech has more support than the censorship lobby.

Very much slowed down as its now at 595

Its noticable that some of the strongest opponents of full strength R18 material on British TV sell R18 through other outlets - sexshops, magazines and the internet. But when have competitors been able to decide morality law? Right now all images of genitals for fun must encrtpyed and even then they cant be shows aroused, male or female. Yet full strength language, violence, gore and blaspempy can be shown in comedy, drama and action films for entertainment to pass an hour. Full strength sex cannot be shown even pay per view.
Its so ridicolous that women cannot even be shown kissing free to air in case it causes moral outrage. |

I don't want to put a damper on what is a long overdue idea, but it suits both the makers and distributors of adult material, as well as the Mary Whitehouse replacements to make it encrypted pay-per-view. If anything, things will get worse with a Tory administration which is short on liberal views. Given the accessibility of this stuff on the net I don't see the point of them spending money on changing legislation. In any case, it is the way that Ofcom interprets the rules, not the rules themselves, that is the problem. The laws haven't changed in the past 10 years, just the way they are enforced. For instance, it was Ofcom that changed the category of liveshows to be the same as that of teleshopping, which enabled them to enforce stricter ruled about what could be shown. Having a petition sent to an MP will do nothing since the decision isn't theirs in the first place. At present there appears to be something of a spiritual/religious/moral backlash which, while not overt (in fact the opposite, check out the recent ruling on prayers in council meetings), is still gathering strength (council concerned now has prayers before the meeting), and even mainstream radio djs are doing the religion bit (Radio 2 pause for thought getting elogated and Chris Evans constant referral to Christian events).
In a nutshell, it's a laudable idea and I have signed but it won't work. Morph Wake up thinking the day will be better and go to bed thinking it could have been worse. |

If you know someone else who might be supportive please pass the message on. And if you know any other useful forums please give it a mention, though they wont be as good as this one of course. Its recently been overtaken by a petition to ban porn mags from newsagents - where else could they be sold? If the type of society you live in and availability of adult material matters to you please support the petition before it is too late.

Up to 550 votes now.
Growth has been quite slow since Christmas, but other things are slow too so I am putting it down to the general post Christmas depression and hoping it will pick up soon. What we do need is for social media sites to cotton on and for it to go viral. Any help getting mentions on other forums, in the press or support from well known (and liked) public figures would be a great help. Meanwhile a very big thanks to everyone who has supported this so far.It might not have made 100,000 votes yet, but it does have massively more support than the pro porn lobby, and thats really important. Thanks again. |
