Re: Books and comics

One of my favorites....Augusto Monterroso (Tegucigalpa, 21 de diciembre de 1921 – Ciudad de México, 7 de febrero de 2003), he writes in the same time that Garcia Marquez, Vargas Llosa, Carlos Fuentes, etc, maybe he is not very famous but I think he is great, funny, ironic...."Movimiento Perpetuo" is a game, the writer is playing with the readers, with some lies, some truth and some things you don´t know where is. He writes the smaller story in the history "When he woke up, the dinosaur still was there."...someone´s tell that means because in Mexico there is a party, PRI, than always is there....always.

Well, for me, the sentences than explane "Movimiento Perpetuo" is this...Monterro says in the book: " In the Literature there is three topics: the love, the death and the flies. I choose the flies" For me, a great man, amazing.

About Izzo I have read the Fabio Montale´s Trilogy....Detective stories of a policeman who is a losing, solitary lover of the good kitchen, he knows that the world is a garbage; only we can enjoy a good food in good company. The low funds, the corruption, without hiding anything. The villains win, the honest ones lose. The royal life.
The marsella controlled by the money and the ambition of the powerful ones. If you like the detective story out of hollywood, please, he reads this trilogy. (sorry, google traductor).

I would like to recommend Hans Fallada (1893-1947).He was the voice of those who lived on the edge of society. He himself was an outcast.Almost his whole life he was addicted to drugs and alcohol.Prison and mental institutions were places he had to stay for a while.
His novels are very authentic and I read them with great interest.

Yeah friend, a good novel but honestly I think "The power of Dog" is the best book from Don Winslow. Robert de Niro always does a good mob man but now I am not sure they are going to make the film...well, after you read it maybe we must to argue Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin sure, it will be a hard discussion Big Grin Thumb up Big Grin

Re: Books and comics

In my opinion, one of the best books of the last 10 years, exciting. The Power of the Dog is a 2005 crime/thriller novel by Don Winslow, based on the DEA's involvement with the War on Drugs. Winslow shows the brutality of the war of drugs with very graphic scenes involving torture and massacres. He also explains with many details how the drug trade worked and how the different organisations collaborated to achieve their respective goals—from the Mexican drug cartels to the Vatican.

Re: Books and comics

Slaughterhouse-Five, or The Children's Crusade: A Duty-Dance with Death (1969) is a satirical novel by Kurt Vonnegut about World War II experiences and journeys through time of a soldier named Billy Pilgrim. It is generally recognized as Vonnegut's most influential and popular work. Vonnegut's use of the firebombing of Dresden as a central event makes the novel semi-autobiographical, as he was present during the bombing. A must-read.
