Re: Books and comics

A nice surprise for me has been Horns by Joe Hill, highly original and entertaining novel telling the story of Ig Perrish, who in the aftermath of his girlfriend Merrin Williams' mysterious rape and murder awakes one morning to find horns growing from his head and diabolical powers at his command.
For those who do not know Joe Hill is the son of the great Stephen King so at the beginning i was a bit perplexed about this book and i'm happy to have enjoyed it, now i can't wait to see the movie directed by Alexandre Aja and starring Daniel Radcliffe.

Re: Books and comics

Good that we have a book-thread now Smile (I´m not so much a fan of comics though)

Yes, thats a good one. But I like Lem´s Solaris much better. Actually, I think it is the best SciFi novel ever written.
The lovestory between Kris and Harey is so disturbing and heartbreaking.

Dunno how often I have read it... Blush

I watched a doublefeature of both Tarkowskis and Soderbergs movie at a local theater a while ago,
good movies but somehow both failed to catch the spirit of this awesome masterpiece.

Bernard Cornwell (born 23 February 1944) is the master of historical novels, if you love King Arthur, The Warlord Chronicles is a wonderful trilogy depicting Cornwell's historical re-creation of Arthurian Britain.

Also great the Sharpe stories, a series of books featuring the adventures of Richard Sharpe, an English soldier during the Napoleonic Wars.
