BlackFly 'flying car' lets you take to the skies without a pilot's license ...

A Californian company has unveiled a prototype 'flying car' that can whisk you into the air for short jaunts, even if you
don't have a pilot's license.

[hidden image - please register]

BlackFly, which is currently being tested in Canada, is the work of Californian company Opener, which specializes in
unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Although widely described as a 'car', BlackFly has no wheels, making more like a
cargo drone with a human payload.

Although BlackFly's controls are simple enough to use without a license, pilots will still need to undergo training to familiarize themselves with its handling.

Over a dozen companies are hoping to have their vehicles cruising the skies by 2020. Some concepts, like the Pop.Up, are essentially small electric cars
that moonlight as mini planes, while others like the propeller-festooned Volocopter, have more in common with regular light aircraft. [hidden link - please register]

Mexican Police Department gets armed with slingshots instead of firearms ...

Police officers in the Mexican town of Alvarado were recently stripped of their firearms
and armed with slingshots and rocks instead, after most of them failed their control
tests and were deemed unfit for service.

[hidden image - please register]

After only 30 officers of the 130-member police department in Alvarado managed to pass
their control tests for the use of firearms, Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, governor of the
Mexican state of Verracruz, decided to strip the entire department of firearms. The governor’s
office has confirmed that similar actions have been taken in other municipalities, like
Ixtaczoquitlan, Ciudad Mendoza and Pueblo Viejo.

However, some local officials have accused Yunes Linares of stripping local law enforcement
of what little protection they had against the criminal organisations in Verracruz. In Alvarado,
the officers were armed with slingshots and rocks. [hidden link - please register]

Singing dog wows Simon Cowell on "America’s Got Talent" ...

A dog named Oscar melted the heart of tough critic Simon Cowell when he sang Tuesday night on the NBC show
“America’s Got Talent.” Accompanied by his owner, who was identified only as Pam, 3-year-old Oscar performed
Pachelbel’s “Canon in D Major.”

[hidden image - please register]

Before they started, Pam told Cowell: “He can sing. He can hold a note. He can even do a vibrato.” She said her dog
started singing about a year and a half ago when she was playing the piano at home. Cowell said: “I’m not kidding.
I’ve done this show a long time and I always said if we could find a dog that could sing, that would be everything to me.
” As Oscar sang onstage, Tyra Banks marveled from backstage, “He’s on key!”

The performance got a standing ovation from Cowell, but he didn’t go completely soft.
“I think your piano playing isn’t great, by the way,” he said to Pam. “I think it could use a little practice, but we may have found our first singing dog. Genuinely. This is exciting.”

The most brazen robbery in the world. Teenagers have robbed Apple's store in 30 seconds ...

video shows. The brazen theft happened Saturday morning at the Apple Store inside the Fashion Fair Mall.

Lt. Mark Hudson of the Fresno Police Department told KFSN-TV in Fresno that the group took various iPhones,
including Apple's newest model, the iPhone X. A group of visibly frightened teenage girls stood in the middle of
the store while one of the thieves ran past them, laptops in hand.

"One customer stood by the door to prevent them from leaving but was knocked out of the way," Hudson told KFSN.
"Right now we are looking for four, or five, we believe there was a getaway driver, black males anywhere from 16 to 18 years old."

According to Fresno police, the suspects never displayed any weapons.

The cow escaped from the farm and lived in the forest for eight months with a herd of deers ...

Bonnie was just 4-months-old when she was sent to death’s waiting room. The poor calf had the misfortune
to be born into a world where her fate was pre-determined. There was but one place she was destined
to end up: The slaughterhouse. She watched as her family and friends were herded into a large group. She
then watched as they were led off together. They would never come back.

[hidden image - please register]

For the first few months of her life, Bonnie was allowed to see the light of day; experience a freedom she would never
truly own. According to People, the place she was raised – specifically designed to breed cows for slaughter – lay
adjacent to a forest. At just 4-months-old, the calf fled her home in Holland, New York, after hearing the desperate cries
of her bovine family being rounded up to be moved on to be killed. Her owners were busy loading a trailer with cows
when Bonnie took her chance and galloped into the forest.

[hidden image - please register]

Research has shown that even cows – despite what many people believe – have feelings and thoughts related to their situations.
There was much and more said of the cow who had eluded her fate – many people speculated where she might be. What was
of most interest to people was the question over whether or not she could survive alone in the cold.

The days went by and from time to time people would spot Bonnie in the woods. They couldn’t catch her,
however, and so the mystery continued to unfold. That was until one day a hunter saw footage from
a camera he’d set up. It was a sight he wouldn’t soon forget. Bonnie was there, and she wasn’t alone.

There, alone in the woodland, she had fallen in with a herd of deer. The company accepted her and, though
a completely different species, tolerated her presence with them. It seemed that Bonnie had formed her own
family with the deer. Yet, while Bonnie appeared to be surviving in the forest against all odds, local animal lover
Becky Bartels knew it wouldn’t always be the case. After all, Bonnie was no wild animal, and the cruel northeastern
winter threatened to do what the slaughterhouse couldn’t. [hidden link - please register]

Bonnie defied death thanks to a good sense of impending danger, an unlikely set of friends who lived in the woods and a caring heart who went the extra mile to ensure she got the life she deserved.

Animal rescuers note surge in drunken seagull calls ...

Animal rescuers in Britain said they have noted an uptick in calls to rescue "drunk"
seagulls that apparently got into brewery waste. RSPCA officers Jo Daniel, Clara
Scully and Paul Adams said they have responded to more than a dozen calls in
recent weeks about gulls exhibiting the same intoxication symptoms. The animal
rescue charity said the birds are believed to have gotten into waste from a brewery
or alcohol producer.

[hidden image - please register]

"We have had a number of these come through over the last couple of weeks," Daniel said.
"We think they're gaining access to some brewing waste products somewhere." "At first,
the birds look like they have botulism but then, after vomiting, most seem to recover," she said.
"The birds absolutely stink of alcohol when we collect them so now our vans smell like pubs!"

[hidden image - please register]

RSPCA veterinarian David Couper said most of the intoxicated gulls were collected
in Devon, but some were spotted in Dorset. "The birds appear disoriented and confused
and struggle to stand. We took some video of one of the birds who is staggering around
and losing his balance just like a person would if they'd had too much to drink," the veterinarian said.

The RSPCA is urging breweries and other alcohol producers to make sure their waste isn't being
left where wild animals can get to it. "These birds were clearly wearing their beer gog-gulls when
they scavenged their meal for the day and they've really been suffering with hangovers after a gulls' night out," Scully said.

The bear bathed in the pool, drank a cocktail and go to sleep on a tree ...

Mark Hough had barely taken a sip of his Friday afternoon margarita when he heard twigs snapping and leaves rustling in his
lush Altadena, California, backyard. "So I got up, looked over in the bushes and lo and behold there's a bear climbing up over
my fence," Hough said Monday.

[hidden image - please register]

The sighting was the first of many encounters Hough would have with the bear that particularly hot Friday afternoon — over the
course of a few hours the bear availed itself of Hough's backyard, his hot tub, and the cocktail he left behind. Hough recorded video
of the bear lolling in the unheated hot tub with the jets on. The creature played with the chlorinator and tossed the thermometer
in the air, Hough said.

The bear's dip only last a few minutes before it emerged and lumbered around the yard. Then
it "popped out of the bushes, walked right over to the margarita, knocked it over and lapped it,
" Hough said. About an hour later, Hough was talking to a neighbor when some oak leaves fluttered
to the ground. Hough looked up to see the bear slumbering in the tree. "So he had his margarita,
he had his Jacuzzi, and now he's ready for an hour nap," Hough said.

Hough said the bear ultimately hustled away down the street. After the encounter, Hough made himself
two margaritas to make up for the one he lost. "It was an interesting Friday to say the least," Hough said.

Scientists discover 'oldest footprints on Earth' in southern China dating back 550 million years ...

Scientists in China have discovered what they claim are the oldest fossilised animal footprints ever found.
The parallel tracks were formed in mud up to 551 million years ago in southern China’s Yangtze Gorges.

[hidden image - please register]

“The footprints are organised in two parallel rows, as expected if they were made by animals with paired appendages. Also, they are organised in repeated groups,
as expected if the animal had multiple paired appendages.” Previously, no evidence of limbed animals had been discovered that pre-dated the Cambrian Explosion,
the sudden surge in diversity that occurred on Earth around 510 to 540 million years ago.

[hidden image - please register]

Unusually, the footprints of the creature in question appear to be irregular and disorganised, suggesting it was somewhat clumsy. [hidden link - please register]

The Canadian has 24 illegitimate wifes and 149 children. Now he is under house arrest, but this will not stop him ...

Two men convicted of polygamy in British Columbia will not be serving time in jail after a B.C. Supreme Court judge
gave them conditional sentences on Tuesday. Winston Blackmore was convicted of having 24 wives, while the court
found James Oler had five wives.

[hidden image - please register]

Blackmore's six-month conditional sentence to be served under house arrest allows him to go to work and attend to
medical emergencies, followed by 12 months' probation. Oler's term is three months of house arrest, followed by 12
months of probation.

[hidden image - please register]

Justice Sheri Ann Donegan says it was delicate balance to come up with a fair sentence and while both
men are hard-working and otherwise law abiding, a discharge by the court would not have been appropriate,
given the gravity of their offences.

[hidden image - please register]

"He's made it clear that no sentence will deter him from practising his faith," she said of Blackmore, 61, who also has 149 children.

"The concept of remorse is foreign to him in this context." [hidden link - please register]

placing his ear next to the police officer's mouth to listen for breathing. After doing that, he goes back to
jumping up and down before repeating the move once again.

The Madrid police uploaded the video to their Twitter feed with the caption: '"Heroic" performance

The unique wedding procession ...

In a unique wedding procession, an Indian groom took his bride home not in a luxury
car or on a horse but on the backhoe of an earthmover.

[hidden image - please register]

Soon after getting married on Monday, Chethan Poojary, 27, and Mamatha Poojary, 23,
from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada in the southern Indian state of Karnataka went home
in a JCB earthmover - complete with decorative flowers.

[hidden image - please register]

A thin mat was also cautiously placed so to not cause any discomfort to the bride and groom
who were donned in heavy wedding outfits. Visuals show the intrepid couple sitting on the
backhoe and a band playing the drums as the JCB moves towards Chethan's home.

Chethan, who has been operating the JCB machine for a living for a decade now, initially drove
the earthmover himself for almost two kilometres. He then asked one of his friends to drive the
excavator so he could sit with his bride on its backhoe.
