The Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 was a 2+2 grand tourer car from Ferrari, introduced in 1972 to replace the 365 GTC/4. Its chassis was derived from that of the Ferrri 365GTB/4 Daytona.
365 GT4 2+2
The car was styled by Pininfarina.
In 1972, just a year after the debut of the GTC/4, a new 2+2 debuted at the Paris. The 365 GT4 2+2 featured all-new bodywork with little resemblance to the Daytona. The wheelbase was 200 mm (7.9 in) longer at 2,700 mm (106.3 in), but most of the mechanicals, including the engine, were carried over. The GT4 was replaced in 1976 by the new, almost identical looking 400 Automatic.

Re: Ferrari story

ferrari dino 246 GTS (1972)

[hidden link - please register]
dino was a brand for mid-engined, rear-drive sports cars produced by Ferrari from 1968 to 1976. The Dino brand was meant to be used for cars with engines that had fewer than 12 cylinders, reserving the Ferrari name for the V-12 and flat 12 models. The Dino name was retired after that point, in favour of conventional Ferrari branding. The Dino brand was an attempt by Ferrari to produce a relatively low-cost sports car.
The Dino models used Ferrari racing naming designation of displacement and cylinder count with two digits for the size of the engine in deciliters and the third digit to represent the number of cylinders, i.e., 246 being a 2.4-litre 6-cylinder and 308 being a 3.0-litre 8-cylinder. Ferrari street models of the time used a three-digit representation of the displacement in cubic centimeters of one of the 12 cylinders, which would have been meaningless in a brand with differing numbers of cylinders.
The Dino 246 was the first Ferrari model produced in high numbers. It is lauded by many for its intrinsic driving qualities and groundbreaking design. In 2004, Sports Car International placed the car at number six on its list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s. Motor Trend Classic placed the 206/246 at number seven in their list of the 10 "Greatest Ferraris of all time".

ferrari 365 GTC/4 (1971)
[hidden link - please register]

Although not generally recognized as a true "Daytona", the 1971 365 GTC/4 used the same chassis. Its coupe bodywork by Pininfarina enclosed four seats, making it a successor to the 2+2 330 GT and 365 GT. However, the rear seats are small and the rear window slanted, so it can also be seen as the successor to the 2-seat 365 GTC. 500 GTC/4s were produced in two years.
The GTC/4 rode on the same wheelbase and suspension as the Daytona, though the engine was down in power a bit to 340 bhp DIN (250 kW), as well as it having an engine-mounted gearbox instead of the axle-mounted (transaxle) gearbox in the Daytona.
This car was seen in Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. It was painted a very dark shade of green with a black numeral 70 against an off-white square background. In 2008/2009 a GTC/4 was used in a series of Hugo Boss advertisement posters.
The 365 GTC/4 represents one of the best deals available on a front engine 1970's era V12 powered Ferrari, offering performance much like the 365 GTB/4 Daytona for a fraction of the price.

Revealed in 1968, the Dino 206 GT saw its first evolution in 1969 in the version of Dino 246 GT. The new model came with a larger V6 engine and a wheelbase lengthened by 60 mm. During 1969 and 1974 Ferrari produced 2,487 units, with a price at the moment of $14,000.
The new Dino was a tribute to Enzo’s son Alfredo Ferrari, more commonly known as Dino, who died in 1956 from muscular dystrophy. The Dino 246 GT made its official debut at the Turin Show in November 1969, although the production run had already commenced. Like most of the Ferrari models it was designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti at the Maranello assembly facility.
During the production period of the 246 GT from 1969 to 1974, there were no major changes to any features, although various smaller items and details did change, leading to the three series of cars referred to as "L", "M" and "E". The 246’s biggest change came with the March 1972 Geneva Auto Show introduction of the 246 GTS, which featured a one-piece removable targa top panel.

ferrari dino 203 GT (1967)

If until now Ferrari was producing only models that were about being as special and as exclusive as possible, now it was time for Ferrari to focus on reducing cost, but also on increasing the sales. Back in 1959 Ferrari was already using the 196 S Dino in the in the Formula 2 racings, so we might say they already have the experience of building small engines.
The Dino name was first used on Ferrari cars with vee engines in the late fifties, on Formula 1 and sports-racing models. It was the Christian name of the son of Enzo Ferrari, who had died in 1956, and was used in his memory as he was working on a vee-engine project prior to his death.
In 1965 at the Paris Motor Show Ferrari unveiled the Dino 206 GT Speciale prototype - a design study for a road car, based on the chassis of a sports-racing model, with an in-line, mid-engined placement. In 1966 the second prototype followed. It featured an elliptical radiator opening with the headlights now wing-mounted under perspex covers. There was a higher roof to the cabin, carrying a similar rear screen and sail panel profile to the original, with quarter bumpers at each corner, showing the evolution from concept car to production model. By the time the next prototype appeared during 1967, the body was almost in its definitive form. The engine cover and boot lid were still one panel, and the strake in the door scallop had disappeared, fitted instead with door handles straight off the recently announced 365 GT 2+2, and alloy wheels that mirrored those fitted to the Fiat Dino.

In 1968, Ferrari decided to replace the previous series Gran Turismo 330 GT (1 and 2 series) with a new model that kept setting 2 + 2 (2 front + 2 rear seats of luck), with the engine front.
For the design as usual turned to Pininfarina, which won a slim and sleek coupé, inspired by the Model 500 Superfast.
The engine was the classic 12-cylinder V, with a displacement of 4,390 cm3, 320 hp and top speed. 245 km / h. The car was very comfortable, designed to meet a new generation of owners, who wanted a vehicle much performance without sacrificing the comfort offered by a luxury sedan more common. Among the accessories offered on the model power steering, power windows, air conditioning.
It was built until 1970 in about 800 copies, of which 52 with RHD.

The 365 P is a concept car built in 1965 by Pininfarina designed by Aldo Brovarone .
Its main characteristic was to have a configuration coupe with three front seats of the central one for the driver. This solution was taken up years later by the McLaren F1 .
Part of the mechanics was borrowed from the Ferrari 365 P2 , racing car of the same year .
Many of its external features will meet later in the Ferrari Dino 206 and 246 .
