The twice-postponed Finals of the "Billie Jean King Cup" will be played in Prague. The International Tennis Federation says the competition will take place November
1-6. It was originally scheduled to take place in Hungary in April 2020 but was postponed for 12 months when the Coronavirus pandemic was declared and it was postponed again in February. Organizers were then forced to find a new host when Budapest backed out in May because of lingering COVID-19 concerns. Canada will replace Hungary in the 12-team competition formerly called the "Fed Cup" and will play in group A with France and Russia; in group B will play Australia, Belarus and Belgium, in group C USA, Spain and Slovakia and, in group D, Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland : each nation will take part in two ties featuring two singles matches and a doubles match played over best-of-three sets. The winners of each group will qualify for the knock-out stage Semi-finals and will compete until the Billie Jean King Cup champion will be crowned.

Roger Federer is going to miss the U.S. Open and be sidelined for what he said will be "many months" because he needs a third operation on his right knee. Federer announced the news Sunday via a video message on Instagram. He said "I want to give myself a glimmer of hope to return to the tour in some shape or form. I'm realistic, don't get me wrong. I know how difficult it is at this age to do another surgery"; Federer turned 40 on August 8th and hasn’t played a match since losing in the Wimbledon Quarter-finals last month. The Swiss star then sat out the Tokyo Olympics, saying he had hurt his knee during the grass-court season. Federer missed more than a year of action after first having his knee repaired shortly after the 2020 Australian Open in February of that year and had a follow-up procedure that June.

The ATP has announced significant changes to its fall calendar in 2021, shaving the Shanghai Masters from the schedule completely and expanding the "BNP Paribas Open" draw, as well as adding a second week at the front of the event. "Under the updated calendar, the 2021 Rolex Shanghai Masters will not take place in 2021, due to the impact of COVID-19,” the ATP said in a statemet. The Chengdu Open and Huajin Securities Zhuhai Championships (ATP 250s) have also confirmed their cancellation. In parallel, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells has been expanded to an 11-day event across weeks 40 and 41 and two new tournaments in
Nur-Sultan and San Diego has been added with a one-year licence".
