9 exciting archaeological finds
1. L'Anse aux Meadows
It is an ancient settlement, according to the excavations, was built by the Vikings, and its population numbered up to 160 people.
But the truly surprising is that it was founded 500 years before the "discovery" by Columbus in North America!

2. Sacsayhuaman
This fortress is located outside the city of Cuzco (Peru) - former capital of the Inca Empire.

3. Mohenjo-daro
This city was built as early as 2600 BC in what is now Pakistan, and was one of the first examples of modern urban development

4. Gate of the Sun
This gate is located in the West of Bolivia, are perfectly carved megalithic stone arch that belonged to the civilization of Tiwanaku.
1500 years ago there was an empire that stretched from Peru to the western part of Bolivia. It was the most powerful South American country before the Incas.

5. Gobekli Tepe
The temple complex was discovered on a mountain slope in South-East Turkey.

Equally fascinating is not only the scale of the tunnels built in Zhejiang Province (China) in 212 BC,

7. Stone spheres of Costa Rica
About these giant stone balls virtually nothing is known, except that they were created by the inhabitants of the valley of the river Dikvis between 700 and 1530 AD.
There is a legend according to which the stones of Costa Rica are relics of the lost island of Atlantis.

8. Underwater Yonaguni Monument
Archaeologists are still arguing about whether a massive underwater formation discovered near the Japanese island of Yonaguni, natural or synthetic origin.

9. Unfinished Obelisk
Recently found in the Egyptian city of Aswan obelisk began to build on the orders of female pharaoh Hatshepsut in the middle of the 1500s BC.
If the construction of the obelisk been completed, it would be the largest monument ever built in Egypt.
