Cave city of Crimea - "Eski-Kermen"
Eski Kermen - a medieval fortress town in the southwestern part of Crimea peninsula, 14 km south from the town of Bakhchisaray
and 5 km north-west from the ruins of the medieval town of Mangup Kale. The name is translated from the Crimean Tatar as the "old castle".

[hidden image - please register]

The city was founded at the end of the VI century BC. e. as the strengthening of the Byzantine and lasted until the end of the XIV century.
The territory of the city occupied an area of 8.5 hectares, with a length of 1040 m and 170 m in width.
Built on the tabular plateau bounded by cliffs up to 30 meters high. It is one of the most visited cave cities of Crimea.

Kenya : DIC - DIC - the smallest antelope in the world

The smallest antelope in the world DIC - DIC - will be able to fit in the palm of an adult man.

[hidden image - please register]

Dic-dic - a rare example of loyalty animals in the wild, they live their whole lives only permanent pairs.

[hidden image - please register]

These crumbs are almost invisible in the grass and low shrubs and expertly blend with the environment.

[hidden image - please register]

In the wool is dominated by various shades of light gray-brown and brown -
this coloring helps royal antelope be virtually invisible against the background of the surrounding landscape.

[hidden image - please register]

[hidden image - please register]

This endemic to the African species found only in East and South-West Africa, and is not found anywhere else,
belongs to the subfamily dwarf antelope. The main area of their habitat falls on four countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia and Angola.

[hidden image - please register]

[hidden image - please register]

These animals prefer to settle in arid areas, covered with dense bush - their main food. Thick, dense thickets serve them well and shelter from predators.

[hidden image - please register]

Dic-dic is rarely seen in the open areas. If only the male. Catching sight of the approaching danger,
mini antelope emit shrill sounds strange - something like a whistle "dic-dic" or "zic-zic", after which they get their name.
Dic-dic, like all antelopes in nature are very curious and trusting than, unfortunately, previously enjoyed success with the local population,
hunting them for the sake of the skin, from which the gloves were made. Now the population of dwarf dic-dic antelope in Kenya is not in danger.

Re: Nature - Discussion & Chat

Now this is a Thread where I've never posted on before and it'll probably be my only solitary post but I felt this was the best place in which to share a few interesting facts about the Harry Potter sets and how I have even come in contact with the locations.

Alnwick Castle
[hidden link - please register]

This castle was also the backdrop to the original Blackadder series although it looks far more polished in the Harry Potter movies as you can see.

[hidden link - please register]

Next up the famous train that takes Harry Potter to the wonderful world of Hogworths.

[hidden link - please register]

This train currently operates from Fort William to Mallaig in Scotland so it is very real and also provides a wonderful backdrop to the movie.

Next up is Glencoe.

[hidden link - please register]
[hidden link - please register]

Back in 2003 I actually seen the set being built before all the stars turned up, I was also on duty that night doing a gig in this pub. Before the gig I had the honour of playing pool with the locals aswell as some of the roadies who were currently building the set for the movie.

[hidden link - please register]

Oh and I forgot to mention a certain Jimmy Savile just so happened to live in Glencoe at the time and was actually in attendance at this gig, I spoke to him briefly, he seemed very flamboyant and spent a lot of time getting his picture taken aswell as signing various autographs, this was ofcourse before the rumours and ultimate truth came out but my memories of meeting him were ok. I was 25 at the time so I wasn't exactly his type and thank fuck for that........Blush
