Jimi Jamison, Survivor Lead Singer, Dead at 63.

Jimi Jamison, the lead singer of Eighties rock bands Cobra and Survivor, passed away August 31 after suffering a heart attack, TMZ reports. He was 63. Jamison's booking manager confirmed to TMZ that the former Survivor singer had died. Jamison served as Survivor's lead singer from 1984 until 1988, proving the vocals for the band's hits like "The Moment of Truth" from The Karate Kid, "Is This Love," and "Burning Heart" from Rocky IV. As a solo artist, he recorded the track "I'm Always Here," which became the memorable theme song for the TV series Baywatch.
Jamison joined Survivor after their then-lead singer, David Bickler, was forced to leave the group after developing polyps on his vocal chords shortly after Survivor recorded their biggest hit, the Grammy-winning Rocky III cut "Eye of the Tiger." In 1984, following the dissolution of Cobra, Jamison stepped in as Survivor lead singer, recording three albums with the band, 1984's Vital Signs, 1986's When Seconds Count and 1988's Too Hot to Sleep. Survivor disbanded in 1989, but reformed in 1993 with Bickler back at the microphone. Jamison would eventually rejoin Survivor in 2000 for another six years.

Italy’s famed national coach, Alfredo Martini dies.

Riders pay tribute to former professional cyclist and Italy's coach Alfredo Martini, who died on Monday aged 93.
Alfredo Martini died yesterday at home in Sesto Fiorentino, Italy, at the age of 93. He won several races as a professional cyclist, but excelled as a director: helping Gösta Pettersson conquer the 1971 Giro d’Italia and Italy’s national team to six gold medals at the World Championships.
“People celebrate me as if I’ve won the races,” Martini said on his 90th birthday. “I’ve had the luck to work with great cyclists who knew how to apply themselves.”
Martini was born in Sesto Fiorentino to the north of Florence, on February 18, 1921, raced from 1941 to 1958 and directed the Italy’s national team from 1975 to 1997.
With Italy’s Squadra Azzurra he won all over the world, taking the rainbow jersey with Francesco Moser in Venezuela in 1997, with Giuseppe Saronni in Great Britain in 1982, with Moreno Argentin in the USA in 1986, with Maurizio Fondriest in Belgium in 1988 and with Gianni Bugno twice, Germany in 1991 and in Spain the following year........
Martini had not been his usual self so much that he had to skip the 2013 World Championships around the corner in Florence. He suffered health problems over the last months and required two surgeries due to a fall at home. He left behind three grandchildren, two daughters, Silvia and Milvia, and wife Elda.

As Terry Gilliam so aptly posted on Facebook ...

"Robin Williams, the most astonishingly funny, brilliant, profound and silly miracle of mind and spirit, has left the planet.
He was a giant heart, a fireball friend, a wondrous gift from the gods. Now the selfish bastards have taken him back. Fuck 'em!"

Game Of Thrones’ Actor J.J. Murphy Dies At Age 86.
He was only four days into filming his role on the series.
New “Game of Thrones” castmember J.J. Murphy has passed away.
The 86-year-old actor collapsed and died Friday, August 8, only four days into filming his role in “Game of Thrones,” according to the Belfast Telegraph.
He was set to play Ser Denys Mallister in the fifth season of “Game of Thrones.” Mallister is the oldest commander of the Night’s Watch.
Murphy was a Northern Ireland native who was an acclaimed theater actor. He had also started to make a name for himself in some big projects, with both “Game of Thrones” and “Dracula Untold,” out later this year.
The role of Mallister would most likely be a fairly major supporting role for the next season, as Mallister finds himself as one of the next in line to become Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. There is no word yet on HBO’s plans to recast the part.

Re: News from the World

Piece of news about Marco Pantani : 10 years after his tragical death, his case has been reopened by Rimini power
of attorney : new evidences and an expert' s report show that the "Pirate" didn't committ an unintentional suicide, but was intentionally
killed by someone who was with him in the residence room where he was found dead on February 14th 2004.
Pantani was first thumped, than forced to drink a lethal dose of cocaine mixed with water, that caused him an overdose.
I really hope that the responsible(s) for this crime will be found soon, so Marco will finally rest in peace.
