Re: News from the World

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi' s heavy referendum defeat on Sunday has left the country facing political and economic uncertainty.
Mr Renzi announced his resignation after his plan to reform the constitution was rejected by voters.
Italy' s president Sergio Mattarella, who he will see later on Monday, will decide whether to appoint a new PM or hold elections.
There are concerns the instability may trigger a deeper crisis for Italy' s already vulnerable banking sector.
A consortium organising a possible bailout for one leading bank, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, is meeting on Monday to consider whether to pursue the rescue bid. With most ballots counted, the "No" vote leads with 60% against 40% for "Yes", with a 70% turnout. Mr Renzi staked his political future on his attempt to change Italy' s cumbersome political system. He wanted to strengthen central government and weaken the Senate, the upper house of parliament.
His opponents, including some within his own party, had argued that the reforms would give the prime minister too much power and the electorate agreed.
But the referendum was more than a vote on constitutional reform, it was widely regarded as a chance to reject establishment politics.
It was a resounding victory for the "No" camp, a medley of populist parties headed by the Five Star Movement, which capitalised on Mr Renzi' s declining popularity, years of economic stagnation, and the problems caused by tens of thousands of migrants arriving in Italy from Africa.
Italy wakes up on Monday to the threat of a banking crisis, political turmoil, and a group of anti-establishment populists banging on the doors of government. Eurozone beware and EU be warned. Italy is the euro currency's third largest economy and it's in for a bumpy ride. And there are more unpredictable votes to come in 2017: in France, Germany, the Netherlands and perhaps here in Italy too

Re: News from the World

A plane carrying 81 people, including a top Brazilian football team, has crashed on its approach to the city of Medellin in Colombia.
Colombia's civil aviation body says only five people survived the crash (three players, a hostess and a male passenger), blamed on an electrical fault. The chartered aircraft, flying from Brazil via Bolivia, was carrying members of the Chapecoense team. The team had been due to play in the final of the Copa Sudamericana, against Medellin team Atletico Nacional. Organisers say Atletico Nacional has asked for Chapecoense to be awarded the cup. Brazilian clubs have offered to loan players to them for free for the next year. Colombian aviation officials said there were 21 journalists on board. The plane lost contact with ground controllers as it approached Medellin at about 22:15 (03:45 GMT), after the pilot reported an electrical fault. It came down in a mountainous area. Three of the survivors are footballers : they were confirmed to be defender Alan Ruschel, reserve goalkeeper Jackson Follman and another defender, Helio Neto.Goalkeeper Marcos Padilha, also known as Danilo, was pulled alive from the wreckage but a spokesman said he later died in hospital. The sports network Telemundo Deportes tweeted (in Spanish) that Ruschel was in shock but conscious and talking, and had asked to keep his wedding ring and to see his family.
Condolences to all the families of the victims CryCryCry

Re: News from the World

Let's be honest here, neither of the candidates were particularly desirable but to be honest I was leaning more towards Trump after all of the cover up's Hillary Clinton was doing, she wasn't to be trusted, at least with Trump, no secrets, you get what you see, however Trump doesn't have the wealth of experience which Clinton would have brought to the Presidency.

A lot of Americans didn't even vote as they refused to be drawn into a decision as to having to choose between these 2 options:

A lot of people seem to also conveniently forget that George Bush was voted in 16 years ago simply because of his family connections and at the time his only political stint was as Governor of Texas. 9/11 happened the following year however, let's hope that a similar fate doesn't await the Trump administration.

Edit - best-reporting that is spooky that not only did the Simpsons predict 9/11 they also predicted Trump among other things, does anybody else think that time machines already exist and aswell as 9/11 its just been yet another elaborate cover up which only those in high places know about hence the reason The Simpsons might actually be more factually correct than just sheer prophecy.

With:
Putin, Orban, Erdogan, now Trump...
who's next? Maybe Marie LePen?

But when will our politicians wake up?
It's the people who elect the governments, not lobbyists and multinational corporations.
Working against the basic interests of the people only works as long as there's no candidate promising to change that.
Trump represents the American dream, while Hillary just represents the big economy with only a few winners but many losers in the U.S.
And in many Countries in Europe the situation is not really better, only not yet a savior appeared.
