It's OK Watcher, everyone have an opinion and sometimes a different opinion, different preferences. Simply i believed that your post was a little bit ironic. Probably i was wrong.

'Our House' ... surely not the Madness song?

well almost got your approval then!
They are split into soft / hard (or mellow / loud) on mp3s & selection generally depends how fast I'm able to drive at the time!

American Pie - def Don McLean & full version
Wonderwall - sorry, it is Oasis
Our House - not Madness but have feeling you may think this is worse! Crosby Stills & Nash. Its just a nice song & I like it! Its another of those feel-good things for me but I defy anyone who hears it not to be humming it 10 minutes later! Doesn't really fall into the 'rock' category (although they are in the R&R Hall of Fame) but I'll put it here anyway!

I agree with you MisterG, but the post of Watcher is ironic and rude...................Thumb down

@karras:
As you say, "we can't all like all the same stuff" and Mr Loaf is some stuff I don't like.
I'm sorry if my expression of my opinion offended you.

we can't all like all the same stuff, life would be boring if we did

so here's a challenge for any afficionado's out there...

here's the current content of my mp3 players - not all classic rock (not even all rock) but in my opinion some of the best

174 tracks but song name only - how many artists do you know? (theres not that many!)
(sorry was too big for screen print so the end of some of the tracks is chopped but you can see enough to work them out)

bit of fun only - not expecting lists of names from anyone - but if theres anything there you'd like to hear, let me know and I'll find a version to post

Re: Good Rock Music - Discussion & Videos _( thread renamed :)

another dip into the past and a couple of tracks from another of my favourite bands - Hawkwind. They were a 'commune' type band bordering on psychodelic - lots of members, lots of lineups & lots of free concerts. My brother saw them in 1973 and I was so jealous!

First a track thats on the mp3 in my car so I still hear it a couple of times a week as I commute to work...
there was a description of the Woodstock festival in the NY times which talked about 'hippies listening to welling music' which it took me a while to understand and although Hawkwind weren't at Woodstock, this to me is 'welling music' - it kind of wells up inside and makes you feel good...
anyway, heres Hurry on Sundown (just the music as couldn't find any live footage from the time)

and the second was Lemmys last major contribution before they abandoned him mid tour (literally!) He took the track with him and it became the signature tune of his next band, but this is Hawkwinds version of Motorhead (again just the music as couldn't find a live version of them with him singing)

and just for completeness, here's how it sounded as Motorhead's 'hard rock' version, with Lemmy, Animal & guitarist Fast Eddie chasing it along about 4 times the speed. Saw them twice on this tour (again just the music, cos frankly, the live versions on utube weren't that good!)

Meat Loaf - I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)

Also, in my country this song made a big, huge success. Even now, the rock radios play this song.
