Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

Here are some of the story's from yesterday friday :

Rosberg aims on Massa's championships place .The German has yet to make up the 16 points on the Brazilian and is determined to do so.

Both Toro Rosso drivers got out earlier than planned on Friday in Singapore. Jaime Alguersuari out of precaution, Sebastien Buemi as he just hit the wall. Both men hope to put it right on saturday .

Sauber drivers Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez, ended the first day in Singapore with a eighth and the ninth time. Both drivers have a good feeling about the first two training sessions held on the street circuit.

Few surprises at Mercedes, where Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg little could predict after the first free practice. Schumacher finished 6th, while Rosberg, with a full tank, ended on the 15th place .

Again a Lotus who were burned in Singapore and again involves the car of Heikki Kovalainen. The incident was cause for a short code red during the first practice.Kovalainen was the end of the day 18th on the timesheets. Teammate Jarno Trulli ended the second free practice as 20th.

The team of Red Bull's was strong again this friday, with Sebastian Vettel fastest in second free practice . The German can be champion this weekend, but will not want to talk about it . Mark Webber is not quite happy yet, and finished 5th.

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton started the weekend with the fastest time in 1st practice, but came during the 2nd practice session no further than the 3rd time. Jenson Button did not have his day . The Briton made a error during braking in the 2nd practice, so he could drive no further.McLaren expects to be faster on saturday !

The Ferrari Team may be optimistic after first day in Singapore, but Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa remained more realistic. Red Bull seems out of reach yet, though everything can happen in Singapore. "The first session was interrupted so often that we could not ride as much as we would have liked," said Alonso.
Massa: "The heat was a significant factor, especially in the cockpit. The tires seem pretty hard to sell, but the circuit can still change. Today was indeed very dirty. The cooling of the brakes and the engine will be important in the long race at sunday. We seem fairly competitive and maybe we can fight the McLarens. You have to ride very concentrated, once I hit the wall, but fortunately without consequences. "

Timo Glock had some problems in free practice on Friday for the Grand Prix of Singapore. By a collision with Mark Webber in the first practice he had a flat tire. In the second practice, he faced with severe tire wear. The Virgin driver ended the 21st day. He came over one second short of the Lotus of Jarno Trulli.

The organization of the Singapore Grand Prix will improve the curbs during the night at the Marina Bay circuit. The first Friday practice was delayed by thirty minutes off the plastic curbs got loose. To avoid these problems on saturday the organization will work hard friday night to improve the situation.
Reportedly, the curbs at Turn 3 and 7 will be completely removed and painted. The drivers indicated they are not allowed to ride the white line, who is seen as outside the circuit. In turn 14 the curb at the beginning of the turn will be completely removed while adjustments are to turn 10 and 13 to ensure that these curbs to remain. The FIA will only confirm the changes to the teams, once the plan is finally executed !

The 3rd practice session will start in 30 minutes ( 13.00u-14.00u ) ,followed with at 16.00u the qualification !

will be the 4° edition of Singapore GP (street circuit)
Singapore is the first track to host an F1 race at night with artificial lighting. The Singapore Grand Prix, the Monaco of the East, is one of the slowest circuit of the season with an abundance of first and second-gear corners, with barriers very close to the track. The result is an average lap speed of just 175 km/h. It is also a phisically demanding track for the drivers because it is a long race with 23 corners per lap. The team will run with a high downforce package to give the car good stability under braking and in order to maximise traction out of the corners. The Marina Bay Circuit is one of the few anti-clockwise direction. There is very little opportunity for the drivers to overtake. So will be important the qualifying, the strategy and maybe the safety car. Perhaps someone remembers the crash gate in 2008. On this circuit, Alonso has always arrived on the podium two times first, one time third and two times got the fastest lap. The soft tyre(yellow) will be the “prime” and the supersoft tyre(orange) will be the “option”, as with Monaco. This is the most favorable combination for the Ferrari team. The FIA revealed that the DRS detection zone will be placed at Turn 4, with the activation zone right after Turn 5 and ahead of the longest straight of the Marina Bay circuit. Forecast weather: on sunday possibility of rain.
The podium after 13 races:
1° place: Vettel 8 – Hamilton 2 – Button 2 – Alonso 1
2° place; Vettel 4 – Alonso 3 – Hamilton 2 – Webber 2 – Button 2
3° place; Webber 5 – Button 3 – Alonso 3 – Heidfeld 1 – Petrov 1
Total podium: Vettel 12 – Button 7 –Alonso 7 – Webber 7 – Hamilton 4 – Heidfeld and Petrov 1
Fastest lap on race: Webber 5 – Hamilton 3 – Massa 2 – Vettel 1 – Alonso 1 – Button 1
- Hamilton does not arrive to third place from 31 GP

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

Some Short news from this week part 2 :

Sergio Perez and Jules Bianchi drove on Thursday with a Ferrari F60 on the Fiorano circuit . This test day took place within the Ferrari Driver Academy, the talent program of the Ferrari, with both drivers this year are part of. Bianchi was the fastest of the two, with 1.00.213.

Max Chilton drove on Thursday for the first time a Formula 1 car . The Briton, who this year active for Carlin in GP2, was for the Force India team in action at Kemble airfield, to test a new aero package . This was our fourth and final aerodynamic tests of the season, "said Force India engineer Oliver Knighton.

GP2 champion Romain Grosjean has tested 2 days this week with a two years old Renault Formula 1 car . The Frenchman was in action at the Valencia circuit and drove a total of six hundred kilometers with the R29.

Tire supplier Pirelli Tyre has announced that it will take these tyres to the Japanese and South Korean Grand Prix, both in October.
For Suzuka, which contains many fast corners, the Italian tire manufacturer has chosen for the soft and medium compound . In South Korea, where the job is a lot tighter and bendy , drivers must make do with the super soft and soft tire. "We have carefully studied all the data and are confident that the ties we have chosen, it will do well on these tracks," said Paul Hembery, Pirelli motorsport boss. "Korea is a job that we do not know very well, but thanks to the latest simulation techniques, we can estimate exactly how our relationship is there will behave."
In Singapore they will drive next week with the super soft and soft tire.

McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button expect to be strong next week in Singapore, where the fourteenth race of the season will be held. Last weekend Button still managed to finish second in the Italian Grand Prix. Hamilton came in fourth by the flag.

Since the departure of Kimi Raikkonen in the Formula 1 there remain several messages about the future of the Finn. Raikkonen moved last year to the World Rally Championship but was spotted last week at the factory of Williams. According to Williams, it went to a "private visit" . Raikkonen, according to the latest reports have already lost their motivation for further rounds to drive. The Finn did not turn up last weekend at the Rally of Australia and became immediately removed from the championship.

The qualifier tyres will not return next season to Formula 1, which made Pirelli motorsport boss Paul Hembery clear today. The return of these fast-quickly wearing tires was one of the ideas for 2012, but plans have not received the green light.

Lotus Renault GP team has received permission to build a new simulator at the factory in Enstone. The local authorities have put the green light for the construction of the new facility, next to the wind tunnel .Team boss Eric Boullier: "Our new simulator should be ready in March. We build it yourself. We received some help from McLaren technology , we have the former head of the simulator at Red Bull Racing employees. He knows what he's talking about, so the ingredients are perfect. " Lotus Renault GP is close to contract extension with engine supplier Renault. Boullier: "We are nearing a deal, that's all I can say. We are historically connected, we have a close relationship and technology and we also have Total as a sponsor, so there are commercial reasons to continue with Renault. "

Sebastian Vettel is not the ideal teammate for Fernando Alonso at Ferrari. That opinion ventilated former team boss Flavio Briatore in Auto Bild Motorsport. "I would never put Vettel and Alonso together. It would be a weakened team because it is fragmented into two camps. "

The Ferrari Team has a familiar face to insights focused on the car next year. The Scuderia has sought advice from the retired Rory Byrne , reports the Italian Omni Corse. Byrne was from 1997 to 2005 responsible for the cars of Ferrari. The South African has once again shown his face in Maranello on a request from technical director Pat Fry and during his visit Byrne consulted on the draft for 2012 ! Ferrari promises an innovative car for next year. The Scuderia seems in any case, choosing a longer wheelbase, the seating position in order to get more focused on the needs of Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard is sitting this year more upright than he bargained for.

With a lead of 112 points after 13 races, it seems very unlikely that Sebastian Vettel could not extend his worldtitel. Nevertheless, the German says that much can happen in six races remaining.

Some short news flashes from this week :

Chances are that Team Lotus is a fitting new name for next season. Then Lotus Group can change the current Lotus Renault to rename Lotus. The name of a team or chassis changes may affect the sponsorship and TV rights !

Chances are that both Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov next year is not part of the line-up of Lotus Renault GP. This post Auto Motor und Sport. Bruno Senna and Romain Grosjean, says the German magazine ....the desired pair of Renault .

The French manufacturer Renault said to be open for even more teams to supply engines in the future

Tire supplier Pirelli unlikely to change the color codes of the compounds for 2012. This year the Italian tire manufacturer used the colors red, white, yellow and red, respectively, for the hard, medium, soft and super soft tire. That was in practice not always visible.

Heidfeld optimistic about his chances in race seat for 2012

Hispania Racing can drive next year with Renault engines , according to Italian and Spanish media . The Italian and Spanish Daily Auto Spring AS is discussing HRT with Renault a two-year contract that would go into next year.
HRT currently racing with Cosworth engines and gearboxes that Williams uses .

Sam Michael signs contract with McLaren as sporting director .

According to Ross Brawn is not realistic to have a title next season to expect from Mercedes GP. The team boss of the British team assumes that Mercedes in 2013 may compete for the world title . But a second or third place in 2012 should be possible !

Re: Formula 1 General Chat & Discussion

23-25 september 2011 singapore circuit

The Singapore Grand Prix is a motor race, currently in the calendar of the FIA Formula One World Championship. It is currently held in the Marina Bay area of Singapore. Upon resurrection of the event in 2008, the first race at the Marina Bay location, which was also Formula One's first night race, was won by Spanish driver Fernando Alonso driving for the Renault F1 team.
Singapore's third Night Race was held in September 2010, in conjunction with a comprehensive 10-day entertainment schedule. Officially known as the Grand Prix Season Singapore 2010, which led up to the final race which included parties, race-themed events, music concerts, exhibitions and dining & shopping experiences.
First organised in 1961, the race was initially known as the Orient Year Grand Prix. The following year, the race was renamed the Malaysian Grand Prix. After Singapore attained its independence in 1965, the race at the Thomson Road circuit was renamed to the Singapore Grand Prix. The event was discontinued after 1973 and a variety of reasons have been suggested, including an increase in traffic, the inconvenience of having to close roads for the event and fatal accidents during the 1972 and 1973 races. It is also thought that a surge of oil prices stemming from the Suez Crisis might have been to blame (although the 1973 oil crisis would probably be a more plausible reason than the 1956 Suez Crisis).
it was announced that the telecommunications company Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) would sponsor the event. The official name of the event will be the FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. The race was co-funded by the Government of Singapore, footing 60% of the total bill, or $90 million SGD, out of a total tab of $150 million SGD.
Around 110,000 tickets were made available for the country's first Formula One race. Corporate hospitality suites and packages went on sale at the end November 2007, three-day passes to the public went on sale in February 2008. Single-day passes went on sale a month later. The event went on to achieve a full sell-out for all of its tickets.
The first race held at the new Marina Bay Street Circuit was the 15th round of the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship, and was also the first night-time event in Formula One history. The timing of the night event meant that it could be broadcast live at a convenient time for European TV audiences. The track was also illuminated by a series of projectors which adapt their output to match the shape of the course.[10] The race was won by Fernando Alonso driving for the Renault team, however that result has since been tarnished by controversy.
For the 2009 race, the circuit was reprofiled slightly, including modifications to turns 1, 2 and 3 to aid overtaking, and also at turn 10 where high kerbs caused many accidents in 2008.
