VICTOR VALDÉS' BARÇA CAREER APPEARS TO BE OVER AFTER SUFFERING KNEE INJURY.
Barcelona followed up their massive Clásico win with a 3-0 triumph over Celta on Wednesday night at the Camp Nou, but it came at a big price as goalkeeper Víctor Valdés sustained what appears to be a season-ending knee injury in the win. The injury to Valdés came in the 21st minute when he saved a Celta free kick and landed on his knee before crumpling to the turf in pain. Unofficial reports later surfaced that the Spanish international suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee, thus effectively ending his season and his Barcelona career after he previously stated his desire to depart the club this summer. Arsene Wenger set to sign two-year Arsenal contract.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to sign a new contract at the club, ending all speculation about his future. However, instead of signing a three-year deal, which he has traditionally signed at the club, the Frenchman is set to be handed only two more years. Initially Wenger was offered a three-year contract when negotiation began last year, but as it stands, the Frenchman will commit his future to two years instead. Cesare Prandelli signs extension to manage Italy through 2016
Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has agreed to a two-year contract extension, keeping him in charge of the team until 2016. Prandelli says ''I am proud of the fact the Italian federation offered me an extension regardless of the results at the World Cup, and that's why I was completely willing.'' Prandelli's contract was set to run until after the World Cup in Brazil, but his new deal will take him through to the European Championship in France. [hidden image - please register] |
