FIFA blocked for two sessions (next summer and January 2015) the transfers for Barcelona
, dueto irregularity in some Under 18 players transfers, so the club can only sell its players, without buying others, both in and out of Spain; the club received also a 450.000 Swiss Francs (370.000 €) fine. |

Injured Gerard Pique out for four weeks after hip fracture.
Barcelona will be without Gerard Pique for four weeks after he suffered a hip fracture in the Champions League quarter-final with Atletico Madrid. The 27-year-old defender fell heavily after an aerial challenge with Diego Costa, who was also taken off with a hamstring injury later in the 1-1 draw. Pique will miss the second leg of the quarter-final and the Copa Del Rey against Real Madrid on 16 April. [hidden image - please register] |

Cristian Chivu retires from football after leaving Inter Milan.
Former Romania international Cristian Chivu has confirmed his retirement from football after leaving Inter Milan. The 33-year-old has been struggling with a foot injury this season which has meant he has not played a single match for Inter. His current deal was due to expire in the summer, but he and Inter have come to an agreement to terminate it early.A statement from Inter read: "After seven seasons, Inter and Cristian Chivu announce the mutual termination of the contract between the Romanian defender and the Nerazzurri. "The club wishes to thank Cristian for his great strength, loyalty and the key role he played in his years that will always be remembered as among some of the most glorious in Inter's history. "Inter wishes to send a warm thanks to the player, as well as his wonderful family, for all he has done for the club." Chivu later released his own statement confirming he would no longer be playing. Watch Dnipro’s Jaba Kankava’s life-saving act in clash with Dynamo Kiev
Dnipro midfielder Jaba Kankava was the hero of the day as his side beat Dynamo Kiev 2-0, but his new-found status had nothing to do with the scoreline. Kankava’s quick-thinking during yesterday’s Ukrainian Premier League match may have saved the life of opponent Oleh Husyev, as he pulled the Kiev captain’s tongue out of his throat as he lay unconscious on the pitch. In the 22nd minute of yesterday’s fixture, Dnipro goalkeeper Denis Boyko came to claim a high ball fired into his side’s penalty area and collided with Husyev’s head. The Kiev skipper was knocked immediately unconscious and clattered to the ground, as Kankava spotted the danger and rushed to his opponent’s aid. The midfielder can be seen pulling Husyev’s tongue away from his throat in a potentially life-saving move, as other players and medics rushed to the scene. Kiev’s team doctor Leonid Myronov last night gave an update on Husyev’s condition: ‘At the hospital Oleh was medically examined. ‘He has a closed craniocerebral injury, medium severity concussion, facial soft tissue bruise, big graze on the face, mandibular joint bruise and damage of three teeth. ‘He returned to Kiev with the team and was taken to Borys clinic. He’ll be examined here. ‘Oleh will spend the night under the care of doctors and after that we’ll decide how to cure him.’ [hidden image - please register] |
