2021 FRENCH OPEN - DAY 15 (LAST) :

Men' s Singles : Novak Djokovic (1) won his 84th ATP tournament in career (19th Grand Slam and second Roland Garros), defeating
Stefanos Tsitsipas (5) 6-7 (6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 after 4h 11'

First set was balanced, with two break-points saved by Tsitsipas in the first game and a set-point canceled by Djokovic in the tenth game, then the world's N° 1 managed to break in the 11th game, but the Greek player didn't not give up, managing to bring the set to the tie-break, in which Tsitsipas immediately went 4-0 and then 5-2 with two mini-breaks, the Serbian recovered with 4 points in a row, but in the end it was the Greek, with 3 consecutive points, to close the set 8-6 after 1h 08'; in second set, the Serbian seemed a bit tired and immediately lost his serve, with Tsitsipas, very solid on his serve, breaking again Nole in the seventh game, closing the set 6-2 after 31'; in third set Djokovic recovered, breaking his opponent in the fourth game, going 3-1, and then closing the set 6-3 after 46'; before the start of the fourth set Tsitsipas took a "Medical Time-out" for a muscle problem and at the resumption the Greek lost his service twice in a row, going 0-4 down, Djokovic didn' get distracted in his service games and won the set 6-2 after 34'; the match was then decided in the fifth set, in which the world's N° 1 made the deciding break in the fourth game, keeping it until the final 6-4 and becoming the first man in the Open Era (and third in history) to win the four Grand Slam tournaments at least twice, while Tsitsipas, who played his first career Slam Final, will likely have a chance to win a Major in the coming years.

Women' s Singles : Barbora Krejcikova won her second WTA tournament in career (first Grand Slam and on red clay), defeating
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (31) 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 after 1h 58'

In one of the most unexpected Finals in Roland Garros history, first set was dominated by Krejcikova, that, after being broken in first game, won six games in a row, closing the set 6-1 after only 32'; in second set, it was Pavlyuchenkova again who immediately broke her opponent, going 3-0 and this time the Russian didn't get distracted and broke again Krejcikova in sixth game, serving for the set on 5-1, but the Czech player didn' t give up and recovered one of the two breaks, with Pavlyuchenkova taking a "Medical Time-out" for a problem in her left thigh, but then she managed to close the set 6-2 with another break after 41'; the match was then decided in the third set, in which it was the Czech player to break in third game, the Russian immediately broke her back in the very next game, but then she got broken again in seventh game, with Krejcikova going 5-3, wasting a match-point and then closing the match 6-4 at third match-point, winning the most prestigious title in her career.

Roger Federer withdrew from Roland Garros ahead of his fourth-round match against Matteo Berrettini, the tournament announced on Sunday. "After discussions with my team, I' ve decided I will need to pull out of Roland Garros today", Federer wrote on Twitter. "After two knee surgeries and over a year of rehabilitation, it' s important that I listen to my body and make sure I don' t push myself too quickly on my road to recovery. I am thrilled to have gotten three matches under my belt. There is no greater feeling than being back on court". The 2009 champion battled through a tough four-setter against Dominik Koepfer in the third round, which ended in the early hours of Sunday morning. "The Roland Garros tournament is sorry about the withdrawal of Roger Federer, who put up an incredible fight last night", Tournament Director Guy Forget said. "We were all delighted to see Roger back in Paris, where he played three high-level matches. We wish him all the best for the rest of the season". Berrettini advances to his second Grand Slam Quarter-final and will next play World N° 1 Novak Djokovic or NextGen Italian Lorenzo Musetti.
