Results Finals : Men' s Singles : Novak Djokovic (4) won his 93rd ATP tournament in career (22nd Grand Slam, record ex-aequo with Rafael Nadal, and 10th Australian Open), defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas (3) 6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) after 2h 56' ![]() In first set, Djokovic started better and, after missing two break-points in second game, broke Tsitsipas in the fourth game thanks to a double fault, then keeping the advantage without worries until the final 6-3 after 36'; in second set, the two players kept their services without risk (even if the Serbian had to cancel a dangerous set-point on 4-5), so the set was decided by the tie-break, in which, after a mini-break for each in the first two points, Nole went 4-1 with two mini-breaks, but the Greek didn't give up and recovered both immediately, impacting on 4-4, then, however, Tsitsipas committed two serious consecutive mistakes, which led the Serbian ahead two sets to zero, with the set ending 7-4 with a winning service after 70'; at the beginning of the third set, Tsitsipas tried to react , breaking Djokovic for the first time in the match, however the Serbian immediately broke him back, then the match continued in balance until the tie-break, in which Nole immediately went 5-0, the Greek shortened to 3-5, cancelling then two match-points, but then had to give up 7-5, giving the 35-year-old Serbian (who becomes the third oldest champion in the Australian Open in the Open era after Ken Rosewall, winner in 1972 at 37 years and 72 days, and Roger Federer, who succeeded in 2018 at 36 years and 173 days) the tenth triumph in the Australian Slam, which also brings him back the world's N° 1, and on Monday he will begin his seventh period and 374th overall week at the top of the ATP ranking (making him the player with the longest time on the throne in history), while Tsitsipas remains one of the seven players in activity that have played at least one Grand Slam Final, but still haven't win his first major. Results Finals : Women' s Singles : Aryna Sabalenka (5) won her 12th WTA tournament in career (first Grand Slam and 8th on hard), defeating Elena Rybakina (22) 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 after 2h 28' ![]() In first set, the Kazakh started better, breaking the Belarusian in third game and then moving up to 4-2, Sabalenka reacted and broke her opponent back in the eighth game, going on 4-4, but then she lost again her serve in the very next game and this time Rybakina didn' t tremble, closing the set 6-4 after 34'; in second set it was Sabalenka who took a break in the fourth game, the Kazakh continued to fight, saving 3 break-points of 1-4 and two consecutive set-points on 2-5, but then she couldn' t save in ninth game, with Sabalenka who closed the set 6-3 at the third set-point after 57'; the Final was thus decided in the third set, that remained in balance until 3-3, then, in the seventh game, the Belarusian made the deciding break, keeping it until the final 6-4, closing at fourth match-point, after saving a 5-5 ball, then exploding in a liberating cry for the most important success in her career, which makes her the 128th Grand Slam champion in history and will make her become world's N° 2, while Rybakina, who lost her first Grand Slam Final after the triumph at Wimbledon last year, will still be able to console herself by entering the WTA "Top 10" for the first time, given that from next week she will be world's N° 10.
