Hi HvB--yes I did read the posts and the general talk was how eurotic would be perceived in the american market. I just wrote my view on this.

Who cares what they are do?

It is the decision of the owner of ETV and if he has enough money why he shouldn´t do it. But i know Amerika has the biggest porn production in the world and they can have nearly every girls in the world. Why should a businessman in a hotel watch ETV TV if he can have a porn channel or a call girl? Okay, the ETV program is cheaper but i think this will be a big fiasko for ETV.

But it is only my personal opinion.

Every state has its own censorship rules and time zone, so ETV could never show anything interesting !

America !!! dont make me laugh. They would throw shows like this into the garbage bin. America has much better shows on cable and pay tv. No way would they even consider shows like eurotic are making just now --so forget that idea big time. Maybe eurotic could hire an american producer for a few months and then we would see an improvement.

They will do exactly the same thing hoping viewers fall in love with the model and unconditional fans spend their money to see nothing.

On the special page it is stated that they also plan to expand their service to South Africa (NSS 703), but the transmission already started in 2006. Wikipedia (keyword "television rating system") says, that 18+ material in South Africa is allowed from 10:00pm to 4:30am.

I agree with you. Personally I don't think it will happen. The Americans (especially in california) certainly are not going to pay to watch ETV in it's current state when they can just hit the beach and watch better for free lol. I just think ETV need to go one way or the other. Either return to their former self ie: the good old days, or finish altogether. Have you noticed though that although the daytime fully clothed shows are terrible, the nightshows have been getting slightly better. Still a long way to go though.

They can use satellite relays but then the costs are very high. Takes 150000€ for the rental of a transponder.

If they do eventually cut the Astra and Hotbird signal, they will most probably move to satellites positioned out to the west, eg Atlantic Bird or Thor. I would imagine the US eastern seaboard can recieve signals from there quite easily and so can Europe too, but as for California, no idea.

So when the executives return to the Hotel after a hard days work, switch on the Pay TV, they will relax to our early morning show. Now that is real business thinking.

Does Emperor Franz have the clout to adjust the timings to the American Market ? Like for example the Olympic coverage or any other major sport events
