Squirrels stash 50 pounds of pine cones under car hood in Northern Michigan ...

A pair of Michigan residents couldn't believe their eyes when they opened the hood of a car to reveal
more than 50 pounds of pine cones that had been stored by an unknown culprit, presumably one
with four legs and a bushy tail. It was around 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11 when Gaylord resident
Kellen Moore arrived at the Iron Pig Smokehouse in Gaylord for work with a shocked look on his face.
Noticing his odd expression, Gabe Awrey, a friend and manager at the restaurant who had arrived
around 9 a.m. for an opening shift, asked what was up.

[hidden image - please register]

"Being the good friends that we are he asked me if I had received some snapchat videos that he had
just sent me," Awrey said. "They didn't come through, so he pulled up the video on his phone. I was i
nstantly in disbelief, saying something along the lines of 'When was this? A few weeks ago?'"

[hidden image - please register]

Moore had previously found the pine cones when he checked under the hood because his air conditioning was
making an odd noise when he turned it on. The phone video wasn't enough for Awrey, though. He had to see it
in person. Together, the friends walked to the parking lot where Moore's recently-purchased Dodge Journey was
parked, opened the hood and discovered the engine bay packed with pine cones. It took two people about 45 minutes
to clear the engine bay of debris.

Dog Always Brings A Leaf To 'Buy' Himself Treats At The Store ...

Some dogs beg for treats. This clever pup pays for his. For the last five years or so, the
campus of Colombia's Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare has
been home to a sweet lack dog named Negro. There, he serves as a guardian of sorts,
keeping watch over things as students go about their studies.

[hidden image - please register]

In return, Negro is cared for by the school's faculty, who provide him with food, water, attention
and a safe place with them to pass the night. But the dog has apparently decided that anything
beyond that is up to him. Early on in Negro's tenure at the school, he came to be aware of the
little store on campus where students gather to buy things on their breaks; sometimes they'd
buy him cookies sold there.

[hidden image - please register]

This, evidently, is where the dog first learned about commerce — and decided to try it out himself.

"He would go to the store and watch the children give money and receive something in exchange,
" teacher Angela Garcia Bernal told The Dodo. "Then one day, spontaneous, he appeared with a
leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and letting it be known that he wanted a cookie." [hidden link - please register]

Consumers are well-versed in sustainable meat-eating and it’s not uncommon to

recent batch of its produce.

Archaeologists find silver treasure of vikings on German Baltic island ...

Hundreds of 1,000-year-old silver coins, rings, pearls and bracelets linked to the era of Danish King Harald
Gormsson have been found on the eastern German island of Ruegen in the Baltic Sea.

[hidden image - please register]

A single silver coin was first found in January by two amateur archaeologists, one of them a 13-year-old boy,
in a field near the village of Schaprode. The state archaeology office then became involved and the entire treasure
was uncovered by experts over the weekend, the Mecklenburg-West Pomerania state archaeology office said Monday.

[hidden image - please register]

"This was the (biggest) discovery of my life," hobby archaeologist Rene Schoen told the German news agency dpa.

[hidden image - please register]

Schoen said he and 13-year-old Luca Malaschnitschenko were using metal detectors on the field near Schaprode when
Luca found a little piece that he initially thought was only aluminum garbage. But when they cleaned it, they understood
it was more precious.

[hidden image - please register]

Archaeologists said about 100 of the silver coins are probably from the reign of Harald Gormsson, better known as "Harald Bluetooth,"
who lived in the 10th century and introduced Christianity to Denmark. [hidden link - please register]

Brave dog stops elephant from entering Indian village ...

A dog showed enough heroics to stop an elephant from entering a village. The lone elephant was spotted outside a village near Chikmagalur
in South India on March 30. The villagers were familiar with the elephant, which was in the habit of raiding crops.

[hidden image - please register]

An anxious crowd gathered and was discussing on ways to chase the elephant away, when a village dog jumped in to their rescue. It charged
towards the elephant and stalled it by barking continuously. Strangely, the elephant seemed to get intimidated by the barking dog and did not
attempt to enter the village. There were moments when the dog got too close to the behemoth and had to beat a hasty retreat as the elephant
took a swipe at it with its trunk.

The intruder stood at a safe distance while the dog also held its ground. After a standoff that nearly
lasted an hour the elephant went away. Munikrishna, a local villager, said: “Elephants are never
dissuaded by crowds, which make a din, to chase them away. But for some reason this elephant yielded to a dog.”

of greatest commotion of the play, in which Jesus is crucified and a Roman soldier approaches

actor who played the executioner.

A video posted on social networks recorded the scene. The blows are spoken directly in the
