Dear friends! Funny, interesting , curious and weird news , stories from around the world and also any videos, photos, etc.
Maybe it will be of interest to you and me in this topic. I'll start with a funny incident...

Massive python slithers into road, creating a traffic jam.

The huge 5.5-meter python crawled out onto the road, scaring drivers and stopping traffic.

[hidden image - please register]

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, South Africa, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A massive 18-foot python
was filmed slithering into a South African road before vanishing down a deep pothole.

Pieter Loock posted a video to the Kruger Sightings page on Facebook showing the giant snake
stopping traffic as it slithers out into the road in Kruger National Park.
The python comes to a pothole a few feet into the road and crawls into it, eventually disappearing completely.
Loock included a photo of the hole, which he theorized could be where the python made its nest.

"Tunnel to the underworld": Strange subterranean passages found beneath ancient Mexican pyramid ...

Archaeologists have discovered a mysterious tunnel and funeral chamber beneath the Pyramid of the Moon near Mexico City which was believed
to represent a passageway to the ancient underworld.

[hidden image - please register]

The 15-meter-wide (50 ft) chamber, located around 8 meters (26 ft) under the surface is believed to have been used for sacred funerary rituals. An
additional tunnel leading to the Plaza of the Moon was also discovered, opening at the southern end.

[hidden image - please register]

“These large offering (ritual) complexes are the sacred core of the city of Teotihuacán,” archaeologist Verónica Ortega from the National
Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) in Mexico said in a press release.

[hidden image - please register]

“All people considered it the mecca of civilisation, so what is found inside can help unravel the relationships this ancient metropolis had
with other regions of Mesoamerica,” Ortega added.

[hidden image - please register]

Researchers from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the Institute of Geophysics at the National Autonomous
University of Mexico (UNAM) discovered the passageways using an imaging technique called electrical resistivity tomography in the
summer of 2017, but the findings have only just been announced.

[hidden image - please register]

At its peak, the city of Teotihuacan, 40 km northeast of modern-day Mexico City, was once home to 125,000 inhabitants.
The population carried out human sacrifices to honor the gods, earn a bountiful harvest and good fortune in war.
Further excavations at the site have yet to be announced, but researchers are optimistic they will turn up more exciting discoveries.

Man creates pumpkin boat then paddles 25 miles in it to set new record ...

This time of the year pumpkins are everywhere for the Halloween season, but a
place where you won't often see them is in the middle of a river. However one man
decided to use a large pumpkin on the water and set a new record for the Longest
journey by pumpkin boat!

[hidden image - please register]

Instead of carving a jack-o-lantern to put outside his home, Rick Swenson took a
massive pumpkin and hollowed the squash out to make a vessel which sailed down
the Red River that connects Grand Forks in North Dakota with Breckenridge, Minnesota.

[hidden image - please register]

That’s a distance of 41.038 km (25.5 mi)!

[hidden image - please register]

Each year Rick raises giant pumpkins with the intention of doing something creative
with them once they are fully ready for harvest.

[hidden image - please register]

Typically he delivers them to the Chahinkapa Zoo in Breckenridge for their Zoo Boo
Festival where they are put on display. Afterwards, they cut up the massive gourds
and feed them the tigers, bears and buffalo.

This time, Rick wanted to deliver the pumpkin in a special way, and decided to break
a record in the process.

Rick’s achievement on 15 October 2016 beats the previous best from Washington,
USA at a distance of 24.2 km (15.04 mi). [hidden link - please register]

This Dutch distillery makes vodka out of tulips ...

Tulips, or flowers in general, are not exactly known as prime ingredients for strong
spirits, but one small distillery in Holland (where else?) claims to have perfected a
process that allows it to create a high quality vodka out of only two ingredients – tulip
bulbs and water.

[hidden image - please register]

Dutch Tulip Vodka is the creation of 34-year-old Joris Putman, a filmmaker turned entrepreneur.
Four years ago, he decided he was going to invent something, and although he didn’t know
exactly what that something would be, he was sure it would involve his country’s national
symbol, the tulip.

[hidden image - please register]

Today, after years of hard work, countless experiments and trying to convince others
that tulip vodka was actually a thing, Dutch Tulip Vodka is a big hit, and Michelin-star
restaurants all over Europe are proud to have it on their menus.

[hidden image - please register]

All it took for Putman to come up with the idea of tulip vodka was a suggestion from
his friends to make moonshine from grain. He wasn’t going to do something that
others had been doing it for thousands of years, but the idea of making a strong
spirit out of tulips sounded appealing. [hidden link - please register]

The most stupid robbery in Belgium ...

'World's worst robbers' arrested after shopkeeper tells them to return when he has more money - and they do. A group of bungling
robbers found themselves arrested after they were told to return to a store when the shopkeeper had more money.

[hidden image - please register]

The six people stormed into the e-cigarettes shop in Charleroi, Belgium, in broad daylight and demanded cash from the tills.
However, salesman Didier told the group to come back at the end of the day when he could give them more money after a day of sales.
Unbelievably, the group did exactly as he said and left the shop before retuning by close of play – where police were waiting to arrest them.
Didier told the BBC: ‘It’s like it was a comedy. They’re being called the worst robbers in Belgium.’

[hidden image - please register]

He added: ‘I didn’t give them a thing, but said if they came back later I would have 2 or 3,000 euros… ‘When I called the police, they
didn’t believe they would come back.’ The thieves returned at 5.30pm – one hour before the vaping shop was due to close, but Didier
told them to come back at 6.30pm, when the store closed.

The men returned for a third time and were swiftly arrested by police, who were waiting at the back of the shop.
Five males were arrested, including one minor. [hidden link - please register]

A 2,400-year-old 'Odysseus' Greek trading vessel is discovered 1.3 miles down at the bottom of the Black Sea ...

The 75ft Greek trading vessel was found lying whole with its mast, rudders and rowing benches after more than 2,400 years.
It was found in a well known 'shipwreck graveyard' that has already revealed over 60 other vessels.

[hidden image - please register]

During the most recent exploration in late 2017, the team discovered what has now been confirmed as the world’s ‘oldest
intact shipwreck’ – a Greek trading vessel design previously only seen on the side of ancient Greek pottery such as the
‘Siren Vase’ in the British Museum.

[hidden image - please register]

The ship, found 1.3 miles under the surface, could shed new light on the ancient Greek tale of Odysseus tying himself
to a mast to avoid being tempted by sirens. The vase shows Odysseus, the hero from Homer’s epic poem, tied to the
mast of a similar ship as he resisted the Siren’s calls.

The ship lies in over 1.3miles of water, deep in the Black Sea where the water is anoxic (oxygen free)
which can preserve organic material for thousands of years. A small piece of the vessel has been
carbon dated and it is confirmed as coming from 400BC - making the ship the oldest intact shipwreck known to mankind.

Cheese lovers can please themselves with an unusual Christmas calendar...

CHEESE fans need to listen up as Asda and Sainsbury's are launching a 24-day
advent calendar with SEVEN different varieties of cheese wrapped behind each door.
The calendar will include Applewood, Mature Cheddar, Edam, Jarlsberg, Red Leicester,
and Wensleydale with cranberries.

[hidden image - please register]

It will also feature a limited edition Wensleydale with gingerbread - Merry Cheesemas indeed.
The calendar will cost £8 at Asda and £10 at Sainsbury's - and it must be kept in the fridge.

[hidden image - please register]

But you're going to have to wait to get your teeth into the cheesy chunks as it doesn't
go on sale until November 15 at Asda and November 14 at Sainsbury's, and of course
you're not supposed to peek behind the doors until December 1.

The calendar has been created by food blogger Annem Hobson, alongside cheese manufacturer
Ilchester. Booths, which are mainly found in the north of England, will also be selling the calendar.
Both supermarkets say the calendar will be available in store and online.

" There is no God," says Stephen Hawking in final book ...

There is no God -- that's the conclusion of the celebrated physicist Stephen Hawking, whose final book is published
Tuesday. The book, which was completed by his family after his death, presents answers to the questions that Hawking
said he received most during his time on Earth. Other bombshells the British scientist left his readers with include the
belief that alien life is out there, artificial intelligence could outsmart humans and time travel can't be ruled out. Hawking,
considered one of the most brilliant scientists of his generation, died in March at the age of 76.

[hidden image - please register]

"There is no God. No one directs the universe," he writes in "Brief Answers to the Big Questions." "For centuries, it was
believed that disabled people like me were living under a curse that was inflicted by God," he adds. "I prefer to think that
everything can be explained another way, by the laws of nature." The scientist died while still working on the book, which
his family and colleagues finished with the help of his vast personal archives.

[hidden image - please register]

While Hawking spoke of his lack of belief in God during his life, several of his other answers are more surprising.
"There are forms of intelligent life out there," he writes. "We need to be wary of answering back until we have developed
a bit further." And he leaves open the possibility of other phenomena.

[hidden image - please register]

"Travel back in time can't be ruled out according to our present understanding," he says. He also predicts that
"within the next hundred years we will be able to travel to anywhere in the Solar System."
"He realized that people specifically wanted his answers to these questions," the scientist's daughter, Lucy Hawking,
who helped complete the book, told CNN.

Attempting to answer the question "How do we shape the future?" in the book's final chapter, the scientist writes: "Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet."

Viking ship burial discovered in Norway just 50cm underground ...

Archaeologists have discovered a Viking ship burial in Norway using ground-penetrating radar that suggests the 20-metre
keel and many of its timbers remain well preserved just half a metre below the topsoil.

[hidden image - please register]

The ship lies in farmland in Østfold county in south-east Norway. Just three other intact ship burials have been recorded
in the country; the survival of this one is remarkable because the imposing burial mound that once covered it has long
since been ploughed out. Another mound, Jelle mound, still rises high in the field, and the research has also traced the
outlines of at least eight other previously unknown burial mounds that once surrounded it, and five nearby longhouses.

[hidden image - please register]

Project leader Lars Gustavsen, an archaeologist from the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (Niku), said:
“The ship burial does not exist in isolation, but forms part of a cemetery which is clearly designed to display power and influence.”
There are no immediate plans for excavation, but further non-invasive research will map the remains and assess their condition.

[hidden image - please register]

The find was described as “incredibly exciting” by Knut Paasche, an expert on Viking ships at Niku. The researchers worked
with motorised high-resolution ground-penetrating radar developed by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological
Prospection and Virtual Archaeology in Austria. [hidden link - please register]
